"A Rebel ship has just crash landed on Corellia. I need you to investigate the location and recover any intelligence."
Mara Jade, to an Imperial operative[2]

A YT-2400 light freighter was used by the Rebel Alliance at the time of the Galactic Civil War.

History

"I've analyzed the data you sent. The shuttle's destination was a previously unknown Rebel Hideout on Corellia."
―Mara Jade, to an Imperial operative[2]

While members of the Rebel Alliance and other people loyal to their cause celebrated Remembrance Day in Coronet City on the planet Corellia[2] in 1 ABY,[3] the YT-2400 light freighter was on its way to the hidden Corellian Rebel Base when it crashed onto a beach near Coronet for unknown reasons. None of the passengers and crew members aboard the ship survived the crash.[2]

Imperial High Command soon learned of the crash and informed Mara Jade, one of the Emperor's Hands, who was attending the Empire Day celebrations in Theed on Naboo. Jade asked loyal Imperial agents participating in the festivities to investigate the crash site and recover any intelligence that he could find on the ship and its passengers. When the agents arrived at the crashed ship, the Imperials identified four victims of the crash. Data found on one of the victims was analyzed and revealed the existence of the previously unknown Rebel Hideout on Corellia to Jade.[2] Shortly thereafter, the Imperial agents were sent by Jade to infiltrate the Rebel base and free several captured Imperial officers from a detention facility inside.[4]

Behind the scenes

This unnamed YT-2400 freighter appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] The YT-2400 was added to the game with the "Game Update 11," published on June 23, 2009, and was present in the game during the Empire Day events of 2009,[6] 2010[7] and 2011.[8] Sent by Mara Jade to investigate the crash, Imperial players had to travel to Corellia and search the victims' bodies to find the data.[2] The quest then continued in the Corellian Rebel Hideout.[4]

  3. 3.0 3.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
