A Wookiee child was enslaved by the Czerka Corporation[1] in 40 BBY.[2] On his first day in slavery, his hand was shaved so that a slave-tracking chip could be implanted under his skin. The Wookiee was then assigned to work at a Czerka office facility on the moon of the Inner Rim planet Pijal.[1]
A few days afterward, he and a group of other young laborers—including some humans and an Ithorian—were tasked with polishing an elegant personal starship stationed in the facility's work yard. When the jewel thief Pax Maripher visited the Czerka office, he was horrified to see the Wookiee and his colleagues laboring at such a young age and noticed the former's head hanging sadly. Maripher continued to contemplate the workers' situation during his meeting with the Czerka Sector Supervisor Meritt Col, struggling to appear amiable while attempting to sell her a crate of kohlen crystals.[1]
