"It goes like this. I'm trying to kill one target of every age. At least up to two hundred—I can't go chasing ancients all the time. But I want all two hundred years represented. So far my oldest was a Whiphid who was one hundred and sixty-two. My youngest was four days. I count her as zero."
―Shenda Mol, to Qui-Gon Jinn[2]

A Whiphid was born[2] by around 228 BBY. At some point by around 66 BBY,[1] they were killed by the bounty hunter Shenda Mol. While on[2] the Mid Rim planet[3] Numidian Prime[2] around that year,[1] Mol proudly told Jedi Padawan Qui-Gon Jinn about her goal to kill one target of every age up to 200 years old and that she had already eliminated numerous individuals so far. She further expounded on the Whiphid's death to Jinn as she threatened to kill him next, causing the Padawan to feel disgusted at her lack of remorse.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Whiphid was mentioned in Master & Apprentice, a novel written by Claudia Gray[2] that was released on April 16, 2019.[4] Prior to the novel's release, their mention was included in a StarWars.com preview for the book released on April 5 of the same year.[5]

Master & Apprentice also establishes that Qui-Gon Jinn is forty years old during its main events and fourteen years old in the Numidian Prime mission, which dates the endeavor to around 66 BBY. Per the novel, Shenda Mol had killed the Whiphid when they were 162 years old at some point prior to the mission, meaning they must have been born by around 228 BBY.
