A Sith witch led Sith forces during the Great Scourge of Malachor,[2] a battle fought between the Jedi Order[4] and the Sith Empire[3] between around 5000 BBY and 1032 BBY,[1] millennia before the Cold War, a period of risen tensions between the First Order and the New Republic after[5] the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY[6] and before[5] the Hosnian Cataclysm in 34 ABY.[6]

The battle on the planet Malachor involved ancient superweapons,[2] including the Malachor Sith Temple. During the battle, the Sith temple's internal superweapon misfired and obliterated both forces,[7] including the witch.[1] The misfiring left the charred remains of the forces as a memorial, forever locked in stone.[7]

Behind the scenes

The Sith witch was mentioned, albeit unidentified, in Dawn of Rebellion, a roleplaying sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series that was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2018.[2]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 The Star Wars Book establishes the era of conflict between the Sith and Jedi Order, including the Great Scourge of Malachor, began around 5000 years before events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to c. 5000 BBY according to Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. Star Wars: Timelines further states that the war between the two ended in 1032 BBY, meaning the Great Scourge of Malachor must have taken place between those two years. "Twilight of the Apprentice" establishes that all combatants, which includes the Sith witch according to Dawn of Rebellion, of the event perished.
