A Sith Lord ruled on the Outer Rim planet Athiss millennia before[1] 0 BBY.[2] He was betrayed by his allies, killed, and entombed in a sarcophagus deep inside his own temple. Over the following years, knowledge of the Sith Lord's tomb was hidden by his betrayers and became corrupted, leading to his name being lost to history.[1]
Due to the incomplete records, by the time of the Battle of Yavin a group of lore-seekers had come to believe the Sith Lord's final resting place was actually a tomb of a Jedi and a source of Force-related knowledge. The group journeyed to Athiss to find the tomb. Once there, they battled Sithspawn and a dark side illusion, which, using the fears and perceptions of the explorers, adopted the Sith Lord's appearance.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Sith Lord was first mentioned in "Lost Knowledge," a roleplaying game adventure written by John Dunn and published as part of Fantasy Flight Games' 2014 Star Wars: Force and Destiny Beta book. The discovery of the Sith Lord's tomb by the player characters forms a portion of the adventure. This article assumes the scenario plays out as described.[1]
