- "Welcome to our temporary home. Those fortunate enough to survive the attack on Fort Nowhere banded together, collected what resources they could, and came here."
- ―Grif Grawley to Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors
A temple was located on Ruusan.
Geography
It was built in a valley[2] near two hills; an enormous statue was standing on a platform at the top of one of them, until it collapsed centuries before the Galactic Civil War and its pieces fell on the eastern slope. Its open palm served for burning signal fires on it.[1]
The valley had a courtyard wide enough[2] to accommodate several starships, and had a spectacular fountain. A wide series of stairs led to a towering entrance inside the temple. The main area was large, occupied by a male humanoid figure, standing his chin on his fist. A system of a dozen lightshafts kept the interior well light during the day, and mirrors concentrated the sun rays towards the statue.[1]
History
Centuries before the Galactic Civil War one of the statues guarding the valley had collapsed.[1] A big part of the temple was buried into a mountainside.[2]
In 5 ABY, its ruins were occupied by the survivors of the attack on Fort Nowhere led by Grif Grawley. They used the interior to pile up their equipment to avoid scanners, and made a makeshift table around which they could gather and exchange news.[1][2]
Fido led the Moldy Crow to the temple, which was guarded by armed colonists. There Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors met Grif. Sitting at the table, Katarn narrated his background, and the quest for the Valley of the Jedi that led him to the forgotten planet. Eventually Grif and the rest of the group were persuaded and agreed to help them locate the Valley of the Jedi.[1][2]
