A Galactic Republic senator represented the[1] planet[2] Ord Mantell in the Galactic Senate in 34 BBY. During a session of the Galactic Senate that took place in the Senate Rotunda on the planet Coruscant involving a discussion about raising a military force, the senator asked why the Jedi Order was not able to function as a military. Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum turned to him and replied that the Jedi were not an army, were few in number, and were not completely under the control of the Senate.[1]
