"I come from a world you've never heard of. My family ruled it for centuries. I'd like to think we were benevolent rulers, but our word was still law. When the Empire sent an ambassador, we refused her and thought that would be the end of it. Five years later everyone in my family was dead and our subjects who'd greeted the Empire as liberators were enslaved."
―The Contessa[1]

A female ambassador was sent by the Galactic Empire to the homeworld of the Contessa, whose family ruled the planet and turned the ambassador away. They believed nothing further would come from the visit, but within five years, every member of the family bar the Contessa was dead and their homeworld was enslaved.[1]

Behind the scenes

The ambassador was mentioned in "Rendezvous Point," a short story written by Jason Fry and published in the 2020 anthology book From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back.[1]
