The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

"Well, there's one consolation. He can't possibly know where he is."
"Why?"
"Because I don't have any idea where I am. That last jump tossed us right out of the nav computer."
―Two crewmembers of a Rebel Alliance corvette, about the Imperial-class Star Destroyer[2]

During the Galactic Civil War, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer of the Galactic Empire at one point pursued a Rebel Alliance corvette. During the pursuit, which took both starships into unknown space, a fathership of an extragalactic species appeared and captured the two vessels. Their crewmembers were rendered unconscious and brought aboard the alien ship, where they were then forced to compete against each other in a series of contests. Ultimately, the Rebel crew emerged victorious, and the aliens declared the Imperial crew to be enslaved to the victors. The Alliance personnel subsequently confined the Imperials and took the Star Destroyer to familiar space and the Alliance headquarters.

Description

An Imperial-class Star Destroyer served as part of the navy of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance.[2] Like other Imperial-class vessels, it was manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards and measured 1,600 meters in length.[1]

History

Pursuit into the unknown

"No chance they can track us through hyperspace, eh?"
"It's not my fault! Just a lucky guess — could happen to anyone…"

At one point during the Galactic Civil War, the Star Destroyer discovered an Alliance corvette aboard which a team of Rebel operatives served as guest crew and proceeded to pursue it. The corvette attempted to shake off its pursuer through a series of maneuvers, including a number of hyperspace jumps, but the Imperial warship remained on its tail.[2]

Ultimately, the Rebel vessel made a jump that took it into unknown territory. Nevertheless, the Star Destroyer also arrived at the corvette's location, making two of the pursued ship's crewmembers speculate on whether or not it had tracked them through hyperspace. While the Star Destroyer closed in on the corvette, one of the two Rebels also expressed their conviction that, since they were unaware of where their last jump had deposited them, the Imperial ship likewise found itself lost.[2]

Captured contestants

"Beg pardon for interference in your sports contest. But. Here in [unintelligible] we greatly honor the principle of fairness in competition. Your contestants were so poorly matched as to spoil the enjoyment of your sport. We have endeavored to correct this oversight."
―An alien aboard the fathership, to the crews of the Imperial Star Destroyer and the Rebel Alliance corvette[2]

At that moment, a vast fathership of an extragalactic species materialized in front of the two vessels. It instantly captured both starships using tractor beams and sent out an Imperial frigate-sized radiant vessel to each of the ships. Subsequently, alien droids politely boarded both the Star Destroyer and the corvette and used beams of shimmering light to render their crew unconscious, after which they were taken aboard the fathership.[2]

There, the alien owners of the vessel forced the Imperial and Rebel crews to compete against each other in a series of non-violent contests. After the Rebels emerged victorious in the competition, the aliens declared the Imperials to be enslaved to the victors, with the latter crew not being inclined to honor that judgment. The aliens subsequently returned the Rebel crew—along with the enslaved Imperials—to the two captured vessels, where the Imperial crew was then kept confined and under guard. The Rebel personnel went on to determine a course taking them back to familiar space and took the captured Star Destroyer to Alliance headquarters. Due to that achievement, the Rebel operative team was later sent out on a difficult mission.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Imperial-class Star Destroyer appeared in "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," a roleplaying game adventure idea included in the 1987 rulebook for the first edition of West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2]
