A group of mushrooms existed on the forest moon of Endor in 3 ABY. These fungal creatures possessed a brown stem topped by a dark-red cap with orange spots. The stem exhibited facial features, including two white eyes, a nose-like protrusion, and a mouth. The creatures were capable of emoting; when startled, they emitted a yelping sound and withdrew into the base of their stem.[1]

In 3 ABY,[2] a field of these mycomorphic creatures had arisen near the position where Argazdan archaeologist Doctor Raygar had parked his vessel. Raygar, who had arrived on the forested world in pursuit of the powerful Sunstar gem for the Galactic Empire, had captured four of the native Ewoks toward that end. The Ewoks, however, escaped their cell on Raygar's vessel with the assistance of Imperial droid PD-28 in an escape pod affixed to the ship. Shortly after launching, the vessel jetted uncontrollably around the surrounding area and toward the mushrooms' cluster. The creatures, frightened by the wayward pod, retreated into their stems until it had cleared their cluster.[1]
