―The Clone Commander and Yoda[3]

A Clone Commander served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Grown on the planet Kamino from the DNA of Jango Fett, a bounty hunter who became the template of the Kaminoan clone trooper army,[1] this clone served in the Grand Army of the Republic with the military rank of Clone Commander. The clone was one of many commanders that were specially trained for combat in the pan-galactic Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance[3] between 22 BBY and 19 BBY against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[4]

The clone deployed to Geonosis[3] in 22 BBY[4] as part of two full sector armies[5] under the leadership of Jedi Order Grand Master Yoda to reinforce the Jedi assault team sent in to rescue Galactic Republic Senator Padmé Amidala, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker after they were imprisoned and sentenced to execution at the Geonosian Petranaki Arena. Following the rescue at Petranaki Arena of the prisoners and the survivors of the assault team by Yoda's clone regiment in LAAT/i gunships, Yoda's gunship landed at the forward command center, where the clone commander greeted the Grand Master to confirm that all Republic forward positions were advancing on the battlefield as the Separatist armies attempted to escape.[3]

During the battle, as Separatist core ships began to launch, the commander stood by Yoda watching the battlefield through macrobinoculars as Yoda commanded a clone captain to have their forces concentrate all their fire on the nearest starship. After the ship plummeted and struck the ground and Yoda sensed Skywalker's troubles through the Force, the commander reported to the Jedi that all Separatist forces were in full retreat. Yoda confirmed, and asked the commander to request a ship so that he may assist Skywalker and Kenobi in confronting the Separatist Head of State, Count Dooku.[3]

Personality and traits

"Well done, Commander. Bring me a ship."

The Clone Commander obeyed Yoda's orders without question.

As with all clones of the Republic, the commander was cloned from the genetic template of the human bounty hunter Jango Fett. Consequently, the clone was 1.83 meters (6 ft) in height,[1] weighed eighty kilograms,[2] and had tan skin.[1]

Like all clone troopers, the commander was designed for loyalty and obedience. Kaminoan Prime Minister Lama Su assured Obi-Wan Kenobi that the clones would obey any order without question. During the battle on Geonosis, the commander executed their duty as a clone trooper officer, monitoring the clone army's progress on the battlefield and reporting to Yoda. The Grand Master commended the commander for their leadership, and ordered them to summon a transport to which the commander complied.[3]

Equipment

The commander wore Phase I clone trooper armor,[3] with yellow markings on their armor[3] that signified their military rank in the Grand Army of the Republic.[6] As a clone, the commander was implanted with a behavioral modification biochip at birth to ensure that they would not resist certain orders.[1]

Behind the scenes

The clone first appeared in the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. They were voiced by actor Temuera Morrison.[3]
