- «As the discussions ended and the emissaries returned to their ship, one of them said to the Paataatus delegation—and I quote: 'The next time you see Chiss ships come toward you through those stars, they'll be bringing your utter destruction.' Do I need to identify the direction that emissary was pointing?»
- ―Wutroow, to the Syndicure
A Chiss emissary served the Chiss Ascendancy. The emissary was one of several sent by the Chiss ruling body of the Syndicure to speak with the Unknown Regions Paataatus Hiveborn nation after they began to press against Chiss territory. When the discussions ended, the emissary warned the Paataatus delegation of the destructive attack the Chiss would launch if they saw it necessary. While doing so, the emissary pointed into space, unintentionally identifying the Chiss' optimal attack vector.[1]
In 19 BBY,[2] when the Ascendancy attacked the Paataatus as retaliation for an attack on the Chiss homeworld of Csilla, the Paataatus were able to ambush the Chiss fleet as they exited hyperspace. Senior Captain Kiwu'tro'owmis, core name "Wutroow," obtained a detailed report of the meeting, using the emissary's reveal of their attack vector to justify the actions of Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn" during a tribunal regarding his disobeying of orders in the battle.[1]
Behind the scenes
The emissary was mentioned in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
