"Personally, I'd be just as happy to have them out of the way where they aren't going to ruffle any more feathers, […] I suspect other families would agree on that."
―The Chaf patriarch[1]

An individual was the Patriarch of the Chiss Ascendancy Chaf family.[1] Around 18 BBY,[2] the Grysk operative "Jixtus" offered his warships to the Clarr, Ufsa and Chaf patriarchs, who all accepted and gave the vessels safe harbors where the Grysk's ships had access to supplies and fuel.[1] Around the same year,[2] the Chaf attended the Circle of Unity, an event attended by all family patriarchs, where they were informed by Mitth family Patriarch Thurfian of some of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet's warships' attempt to detain traitorous Senior Captain Thrawn at the planet Sunrise.[1]

The Chaf expressed that they were happy having the ships out of the Ascendancy, where "they would not ruffle any more feathers." After Jixtus' defeat by the Expansionary Defense Fleet vessels—which had been sent to in fact, fight the Grysk by Supreme General Ba'kif—the Chaf patriarch stepped down from their family's leadership.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Chaf appeared in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, the final volume in Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
