- "Too much action! Too much action!"
- ―The B1-series battle droid's companion, on their death
A B1-series battle droid was stationed on the planet Hissrich in 22 BBY. They carried an E-5 blaster rifle and a comlink booster pack. As a member of a patrol squadron traveling through sector two zero nine, they engaged in combat with the Jedi Master Mace Windu and Jedi Knight Rissa Mano. Mano deflected a blaster bolt into the battle droid's head, destroying them.
Biography
- "Ummm… What is that?"
- ―The B1-series battle droid
The B1-series battle droid was destroyed by Rissa Mano.
In 22 BBY,[1] the B1-series battle droid[4] was stationed on the planet Hissrich as part of a droid army for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. When they traveled with a patrol squadron through sector two zero nine, they were observed by a Jedi team led by Jedi Master Mace Windu. The battle droid's companion complained about patrol duty, which upset the battle droid. When Windu and Jedi Knight Rissa Mano ambushed the droids, the battle droid fired at the encroaching Jedi with their blaster rifle as they scolded their companion for jinxing the squadron. The Jedi Knight deflected a blaster bolt with her lightsaber into the droid's head, and Windu bisected their companion,[3] destroying them both.[1]
Characteristics
- "Don't say that! Now you've jinxed us, you've doomed us all."
- ―The B1-series battle droid
Like all B1-series battle droids, the droid was part of the B-series battle droid line,[2] stood at 1.93 meters, and weighed sixty-five kilograms.[5] They had black sensors and tan plating,[3] though it was described as bone white.[5] They were superstitious, believing their companion jinxed their existence by wishing for action.[3]
Equipment
- "See what you've done? Fire!"
- ―The B1-series battle droid
The droid carried a comlink booster pack that matched their plating and a black E-5 blaster rifle, which they used in battle against Mano and Windu.[3]
Behind the scenes
The droid appeared in the first issue of the 2017 comic series Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu. The story was written by Matt Owens, illustrated by Denys Cowan, and published by Marvel Comics[3] on August 30, 2017.[6] In the comic, the droid was depicted on the right side of two panels. When the droid and its companion turn to face the advancing Jedi, the droid remains on the right side of the new panel, though the perspective has shifted.[3] Multiple pages of in-progess art from the first issue that depicted the droid were released, with pencils by Cowan[7] and inks by Roberto Poggi,[8] who inked for the issue.[3]
