Ubuugan fleshborers were parasitic winged worms native to the swamps of Ubuuga The fleshborers spent the majority of their life cycle within the original host body, emerging only to find another host. Upon finding a suitable host, they shed their wings and burrowed into the creature's skin. They were able to eat through some form of metal via corrosive secretions. Rodomium was vulnerable to their secretions, however Mandalorian armor was resistant.[1]

The Ubuugan species that shared their homeworld evolved biological defences against the parasites and regarded them as a delicacy.

Emperor Palpatine's third cousin, Volpau, was killed by fleshborers while on Ubuuga, however the cause of his death was undetermined at the time. His body was placed in a rodomium casket, which was shipped back to Coruscant for ritual incineration on the freighter Mingula, While on route, the fleshborers emerged and killed the Zylurian crew,

The infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett picked up the ship's distress beacon and boarded, hoping to find valuable salvage. Detecting no life forms, he had his prisoner, Tsumo, board first, to test how dangerous it was. While searching through the treasures in the ships hold, they were attacked by a swarm of fleshborers. Tsumo was killed but Fett escaped due to the resilience of his armor. He set off an explosion that destroyed the ship, and presumably the worms.

Some managed get onto Slave I but were devoured by Fett's other prisoner, the Ubuugan Chung, who regarded them as tasty.[2]
