The UEV-M1 Marauder engineer squad carrier, known simply as the Marauder, was a medium-armored repulsorlift transport manufactured by the SoroSuub Corporation. It was designed to transport combat engineers to the battlefield while providing them with armored support.
Characteristics
The Marauder was medium-armored, durable, repulsorlift transport vehicle. It was designed from a line of lightly-armored vehicles designed for use by law enforcement agencies and security organizations. The Marauder had a long, tapering hull with a drop-down ramp. Its ventral surface was heavily armored and at an incline, which protected it from mines and other explosive devices. Its dorsal armor gave the vehicle protection against infantry weapons, shrapnel, and light anti-vehicle weapons. The vehicle also had firing ports on each side of its hull.[1]
The Marauder was fully white in color and had room for twelve humanoid passengers located on bench seats mounted to the inner hull. It was operated by a pilot and co-pilot, both located in a small, cramped, environmentally sealed cockpit. Its armaments included a dorsal turret-mounted concussion grenade launcher operated by the co-pilot, a forward-mounted auto-blaster, and a pintle-mounted heavy repeating blaster. It was also equipped with a large, articulated excavation blade and it could be equipped with a repulsor trailer, which could tow extra tools and equipment.[1]
Role
The UEV-M1 Marauder engineer squad carrier was primarily designed as an armored transport. It was used to transport twelve combat engineers and their equipment to the battlefield, while providing them with armored support.[1]
History
Manufactured by the SoroSuub Corporation, the Marauder was used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic's combat engineering units during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire.[1]
