Tyric was an Imperial Intelligence agent on the planet Garrthinius[1] in 4 ABY.[2] Due to the widespread hostility towards the ruling Imperial government, there was a heavy Intelligence presence on the planet, and he was part of a wider effort to frustrate attempts by the local population to rise up by infiltrating rebel cells and imprisoning local leaders. He infiltrated a Rebel cell which was in contact with the Rebel Alliance and murdered the Alliance's contact.
Once Alliance operatives arrived on the planet with the intentions of uniting the various insurgent groups, Tyric posed as their contact and ingratiated himself by sharing his extensive knowledge of the local situation and assisting the Alliance in their goals. When he informed them that the government had imprisoned several Rebel leaders in the local garrison, the operatives launched an attempt to rescue them.
While sneaking through the garrison with the operatives, Tyric forgot to follow the false layout and accidentally went in the correct direction when one of them said to head to the detention cells, despite the map pointing them in the opposite direction. This revealed him as a saboteur, and the operatives subdued him. He was subsequently unable to prevent them from freeing the prisoners and successfully assisting the populace in overthrowing the government.
Behind the scenes
Tyric appeared in The Truce at Bakura Sourcebook, a roleplaying guide published in 1996 by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The book was written by Kathy Tyers and Eric S. Trautmann. Tyric appeared in an adventure seed as the villain of a Rebel Alliance mission; this article assumes the adventure was completed as described.[1]
