Two-headed tortuce were a diverse species that were found in many parts of the world of Canastra IV.
Biology and appearance
Like Troigs, they were one of the few lifeforms found in the Core Worlds with two brains. Multiple species existed, having adapted to numerous environments, from dry land to ocean depths. Like many reptiles, their lifespans could span over a century. They had a brain at the end of each neck which both connected to a nexus under the creature's shell. It was hypothesized that the nexus acted like an organic filter to handle the signals from two distinct brain centers.[1]
Behavior
The creatures were slow and traveled in large herds. They lacked the aggression to defend themselves to any great extent.[1]
History
While they lacked natural predators, they were a favored food of the sapient locals, and were vulnerable to hunting. Governmental attempts to outlaw their slaughter did not meet with success.[1]
