Tualon's lightsaber was a green-bladed lightsaber used by the Twi'lek Jedi Knight Tualon Yaluna during his time in the Jedi Order.

Description

Tualon's lightsaber belonged to the Twi'lek Tualon Yaluna, a Jedi of the Jedi Order.[1] It featured a cylindrical hilt that housed a green[3] kyber crystal[2] to produce a green blade.[3]

History

"I’ve been telling Tualon that after any big battle, it’s always good to take your weapon apart and put it back together so you know exactly what’s going on inside. That Geonosian sand can be very irritating. It gets everywhere!"
―Bavoc Ansho[1]

In 22 BBY,[4] Jedi Padawan Yaluna participated in the First Battle of Geonosis[1]—a desert planet in the Outer Rim Territories[5]—accompanied by his Jedi Master Bavoc Ansho along with other Padawans and their Masters. The detachment was responsible for destroying any sonic cannons in the stands of the Petranaki arena. As the team entered a tower attached to the arena, Yaluna, along with all the other Jedi in the detachment, ignited his lightsaber before entering the dark tunnel. Ultimately, the group was successful in removing the threats of sonic cannons, with Ansho and Yaluna destroying one together. Following the battle, Ansho instructed Yaluna on the importance of dismantling and rebuilding one's lightsaber after a battle, to keep oneself informed on the inner workings of the weapon.[1]

Weeks later, Yaluna sparred with his Master using their lightsabers in a small training room within the Jedi Temple, on the[1] Core Worlds planet[5] Coruscant.[1] When fellow Padawan Iskat Akaris entered the training room, seeking a new mentor after the death of her Master, Sember Vey, at Geonosis, the Padawan and Master deactivated their lightsabers and greeted the newcomer. Akaris recalled Ansho was teaching Yaluna new lightsaber forms and requested to observe their training regiment. Ansho declared they had trained enough for the day and reiterated the importance to deconstructuring one's lightsaber after a battle, inviting Akaris to do so with them. Before the three could begin though, they were summoned to the Jedi Temple training ground courtyard so a number of Padawans, which included Akaris and Yaluna, could be promoted to Jedi Knights.[1]

Behind the scenes

"I enjoyed working in gray scale and slowly bleeding in color to give it that faded memory feel before they went over to the dark side."
―Artist Grant Griffin[6]

Tualon's lightsaber appeared in Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, a novel written by Delilah S. Dawson[1] and released July 18, 2023.[7] The lightsaber was first depicted in art by Grant Griffin, in a Comic-Con exclusive cover for the Rise of the Red Blade, which was made available July 19 at the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con.[8] The art was first previewed earlier in the year by Random House Worlds's official Star Wars Twitter account on June 16.[9]

Griffin said he enjoyed working in gray scale and bleeding in color in order to express a faded memory for the art depicting the lightsaber.[6] On May 17, 2024, Griffin posted an art process video featuring the lightsaber, and revealed he drew the Inquisitor version of the art first, before depicting the Jedi version.[10]
