A Truce-byte was usually sent as proof of an unconditional surrender.[1]

In 7 ABY, during the Liberation of Coruscant, the Imperials announced their surrender to the New Republic forces of Admiral Ackbar when Captain Averen sent out a truce-byte.[1]
