"We're all ready! In the name of the millions that the Mandalorians have killed, tortured, and enslaved—we'll save the Republic! And defeat the Mandalorians forever!"
―Malak[1]

The trial of Demagol[2][3] was an event in 3963 BBY, when the Mandalorian renegade Rohlan Dyre, who was mistaken for the doctor and scientist Demagol, was put on trial for a myriad of crimes Demagol committed against the citizens of the Galactic Republic, while the real Demagol was still on the loose.

Prelude

In 3964 BBY, Zayne Carrick went on the run from both the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order after being falsely accused of instigating the Padawan Massacre on Taris. During his run, he found himself in the middle of the Mandalorian Wars when he and his compatriots were caught up in the invasion of Vanquo. After Jarael was captured and brought to Flashpoint Station, the Mandalorian renegade Rohlan Dyre offered to help Zayne and his friends rescue Jarael and the other prisoners from the mad scientist Demagol, who was studying and torturing Jedi to discover the secrets of the Force.

The rescue operation was successful and Demagol was subdued. However, the scientist had secretly incapacitated Rohlan and switched armors with him in order to impersonate him and travel with Jarael, whom he recognized as one of his students from his old academy on Osadia. After Flashpoint had been evacuated, Demagol snuck aboard the Last Resort and traveled with Zayne and his friends on their many adventures while Rohlan was held prisoner aboard the Jedi shuttle on route to Coruscant to stand trial for Demigod's crimes. While en route to Coruscant, he fell into a drug-induced coma and could not be awakened for trial. After he was placed under guard, Rohlan slept in a coma for months before finally awakening.

Trial

After being forced to wear Demagol's armor, Rohlan was paraded through the streets of Coruscant under guard to the Old Senate Chamber while an angry crowd of citizens jeered and heckled him. Jedi Master Koa Delko and Jedi Knight Malak greeted the Mandalorian prisoner unaware that the man they held in contempt was the same man who helped rescue Malak and the Jedi prisoners from Flashpoint a while ago.

Elsewhere, Zayne Carrick went with Marn Hierogryph and the Trandoshan Slyysk to Marn's new restaurant, Goodvalor's Little Bivoli, to reflect on their many adventures. At one point, T1-LB (nicknamed "Elbee") disclosed that "Rohlan" had lost 17.4 kilos of bodyweight after leaving Flashpoint. Recalling the many other discrepancies in Rohlan's speech and behavior over the course of their travels, Zayne came to the horrifying conclusion that Demagol was still on the loose. Realizing that the real Rohlan was being falsely accused of the former's crimes, he and his two companions set out to rescue the renegade Mandalorian.

The show trial began inside the Senate chamber where the Sith Lord Exar Kun slew his former master Vodo-Siosk Baas during the Great Sith War a generation ago. Before a huge audience gathered throughout the chamber, Malak testified passionately against "Demagol's" many crimes against the Jedi and Republic citizens, citing his "adventures in science" and how the scientist tortured Malak to the point of altering his appearance forever. Enraged at being called by the mad doctor's name, Rohlan broke free of his restraints only to find himself thrown back by Malak's use of the Force. Malak then openly proclaimed that the Republic and the Jedi were ready for war with the Mandalorians, pledging to save the Republic and defeat the invaders forever.

Held at blaster point by the security guards, Rohlan insulted Malak and his people for being unable to beat their enemies in a fair fight. Then, the Mandalorian challenged the Jedi by asking who would save the Republic from Malak when he became the very thing he swore to fight. At that point, the audience grew unruly and vicious, forcing the guards to escort "Demagol" out of the Senate building. Unbeknownst to everyone else, Zayne and Gryph arrived in a speeder disguised as guards and rushed the prisoner into their craft before flying away. After escaping from the Senate building, Rohlan took off his helmet and revealed his face. In turn, Zayne and Gryph revealed themselves to Rohlan and called upon his help to rescue Jarael from Demagol once again.

Aftermath

When the Republic and the Jedi realized that Demagol had never been returned to his prison, Malak angrily led a city-wide search for the Mandalorian doctor only to come up empty-handed. While hiding out in Zayne's base for the Rogue Moon Project, Rohlan narrated the events that led to the rise of Demagol and swore to end the mad scientist once and for all. Zayne called upon the members his organization to help locate Demagol's former base of operations on Osadia. Working in tandem with Cassus Fett and Admiral Saul Karath, Zayne was able to successfully apprehend the Crucible's captain Dace Golliard, who gave up the location of Osadia. Together with Rohlan, Gryph, and Slyssk, Zayne managed to rescue Jarael and stop both Demagol and his daughter Chantique once and for all. On the run, Rohlan would go back to his runs in an effort to find out the true reasons for the Mandalorian Wars.
