The Treppus-2 vibroblade was a knife-sized melee weapon produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc.
Description
The Treppus-2 vibroblade, manufactured by Mer-Sonn, was a standard knife-sized weapon with a fifteen centimeter-long blade. The hilt,[1] which included vibration-dampening,[2] contained the power cell which generated enough power for up to ten hours of operation.[1] An extendible sheath is located at the base of the blade, allowing it to be covered when not in use. The sheath had diagnostic software and self-sharpening hardware,[2] and could optionally be fitted with a recharging module.[1]
Activating the ultrasonic vibration generator through an activation stud on the hilt started the blade vibrating so quickly it appeared to be a blur. The Treppus-2 could also be configured to activate the vibration generator once the blade had been removed from the sheath. The vibroblade was capable of slicing through duraplast, ceramic armor, and metal alloys. The vibration generator made a substantial amount of noise, allowing it to be heard from several meters away. The weapon was balanced so it could be thrown accurately at short distances.[1]
