Tosharans were the citizens of the Outer Rim Territories moon Toshara. The original refugees of the moon were mainly human and remained in isolation on the moon until a Galactic Republic officer named Sefin Garoby crash–landed on the moon during the Clone Wars. During which the natives did not speak Basic, instead speaking Toshari which developed on the moon during its isolation and continued to be used on the moon[1] during 3 ABY.[2] While on the moon, Garoby's protocol droid was able to communicate with the Tosharans using an old language that approximated Toshari. Garoby later left the moon after the Tosharans helped them repair their ship. Since the Tosharans expressed interest in contact with the rest of the galaxy Garoby left their protocol droid behind to teach the inhabitants Basic and prepare them.[1]

Behind the scenes

Tosharans first appeared in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws published by Ubisoft.[1]
