The Toren crime family,[1] also known as Papa Toren's group,[2] was a crime family[1] led by[2] the crime lord[1] Toren that was active during the reign of the Galactic Empire.[2] Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[4] the resurgent criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn spreaded a rumor throughout the criminal underworld that Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine wanted to end the Empire's partnership with the Hutt Clan after the Grand Hutt Council betrayed them by attacking the Executor, the flagship of his apprentice Sith warlord Darth Vader. Lady Qi'ra, the leader of Crimson Dawn, sent her advisor Trinia to the lair of Papa Toren on Castell to inform Toren which meant he would be looking for a new partner to start the Syndicate War. Sometime after Trinia's visit,[3] a contact of Imperial Security Bureau Director Sliro Barsha within Toren's group informed the Director of Crimson Dawn's role in it which made Palpatine realize Crimson Dawn intended to destroy the Sith.[2]
