Throwing spears (also called javelins) were primitive weapons used by archaic cultures like Ewoks. They were slightly shorter than a normal spear and in the hands of a skilled warrior could be thrown over a long distance with considerable power. The main advantage to these weapons were the fact they were more or less silent, allowing for stealthy kills.

The Ewoks demonstrated the effectiveness of these weapons during the Battle of Endor, impaling many stormtroopers with their precise throws.
