The Third Battle of Geonosis was a major battle that took place during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems on the planet of Geonosis.[1]
The battle
To discover the truth behind a reactivated battle droid factory, the Jedi Council dispatched a task force of Jedi, consisting of Grand Master Yoda, High General Obi-Wan Kenobi, generals Aayla Secura, Plo Koon, Anakin Skywalker, and Skywalker's padawan, Ahsoka Tano. Republic forces arrived on Geonosis in force, and massive explosions on the planet's surface could be seen from space.
As clone troopers engaged the Separatist Droid Army on the planet's surface, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka were deployed to the planet's surface aboard a Low Altitude Assault Transport, while Plo Koon and Aayla Secura kept the bulk of Separatist battle droids busy.
Upon landing, the Jedi fought through hundreds of B1-series battle droids and BX-series commando droids as the fighting raged on the ground below them and the skies above, with gunships providing air support when they could. Eventually, they reached the Petranaki Arena, where they found a trio of clone troopers pinned down in the center around the wreck of their gunship. After saving them from multiple waves of droids entering through the arena's doors, they progressed further to the factory.
The four reached the factory's main entrance to find the bridge gone, and were instead forced to progress along the outer walls of the spires to enter, facing many more droids along the way. Upon reaching the other side of the gap, they defended against reinforcements while they extended the bridge to allow support to cross.
Behind the scenes
The Third Battle of Geonosis first appeared in the non-canon Twilight of the Republic play set in Disney Infinity 3.0 as the first mission of the campaign.[1]
