- "I've had an idea for a long time about threading the Corkscrew through the Thunderhead, cutting a bit [sic] chunk off the Kessel Run. That'd be an all-time record for me to claim."
- ―BoShek, Smuggler's Guide
The Thunderhead was a location within the Corkscrew,[1] a part of the turbulent[2] Outer Rim Territories[3] region known as the Akkadese Maelstrom.[2] The freelance pilot BoShek nurtured for a long time an idea of passing through the Corkscrew via the Thunderhead, which, in[1] his[4] estimate, would allow him to establish a new record time for the completion of a Kessel Run[1]—the dangerous transportation of raw coaxium fuel or spice from the Akkadese Maelstrom world Kessel to a refinery or purification planet outside the Maelstrom.[2] BoShek hoped to acquire the funds needed to accomplish that feat by placing either first, second, or third at[1] the 0 ABY[5] Dragon Void Run starship race, which he noted in the book known as the Smuggler's Guide. Ultimately, the pilot was not successful at the Dragon Void Run, which forced him to re-focus on hauling cargo again in order to earn money.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Thunderhead was mentioned in Daniel Wallace's 2018 reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide.[1]
