―The Curse senses the presence of the Alliance Commander[2]

The Curse was an extremely powerful creature residing in the Shrine of Silence on Voss.[2]

History

During their occupation of Voss, the ancient Sith many conducted experiments while on the planet. One of these involved exposing creatures with strong connections to the dark side to a Force-enriched world. Among these was a creature that would later be known as the Curse and a Gormak named Kirba. However, when the newly evolved Voss attacked and exterminated the Sith, the test subjects were left to themselves as the Sith structures fell into ruin. The creature continued to thrive, changing to the point that whatever species it had once been could no longer be identified. In the millennia that followed, it evolved and grew larger as it fed, drawing on the essence of that which it devoured. It eventually gained sentience, as well as more supernatural abilities, corrupting wildlife and inducing madness in sentient beings, compelling them to serve it. It could even tear violent openings to the Spirit World, blurring the lines between the two realms.[3] This also allowed it to both forces its inhabitants to serve it and allowed any servants that had lost their lives to continue fighting from beyond the grave. It remained in the ruins, now christened the Shrine of Silence, where it corrupted the local creatures and anyone, such as the Mystic Nil-Uu, who entered the shrine. The shrine gained a reputation for being cursed, and was avoided by the Voss.[2]

Eventually, Voss Mystics Rada-Ki and Tem-Su offered to survey the Shrine of Silence to contribute to reconstruction efforts following the Invasion of Voss. The Shrine Restoration Initiative were too preoccupied and were unable to answer their request, prompting them to set out on their own due to not wanting to continue waiting. The two were accompanied by a team of Voss commandos to the shrine, but they ultimately fell victim to the Curse's corruptions and were enslaved by it. Tem-Su's mother, Jiri-Su, sent the Alliance Commander to rescue the Mystics. The Curse sensed their presence and communicated with them as they battled their way through the shrine, instructing a corrupted Vorantikus as it fought the Commander and cried for more death as the Vorantikus fell. The Commander eventually came across the Voss commandos, and eventually the Mystics themselves, but found they had gone beyond the point of saving and was forced to strike down all of the Curse's victims in self-defense. They eventually came face to face with the Sithspawn itself, which greeted them as it tore a hole from the Spirit World and appeared in front of them. The two fought within the bowels of the shrine and the Curse's strength began to waver, prompting it to tear holes to the Spirit World, summoning forth creatures from the Spirit World, as well as the spirit of Rada-Ki, to help it. As the spirit of Rada-Ki peppered the arena with Force lightning, the Curse attempted to kill the Commander by relentlessly assaulting their mind. It ultimately proved fruitless, as the Commander managed to destroy the creature and survive the encounter.[2]
