"Who? My husband and love, Thage Howless, wherever his black heart might be."
―Gorgeous Su[1]

Thage Howless was the husband of Gorgeous Su, a soldier in the New Republic's 61st Mobile Infantry. At some point by the Galactic Civil War, the pair became separated.[1] Around 5 ABY,[2] Su, while deployed on the planet Troithe, played Who? What? Where?—a game in which each participant explained out who they wanted to be informed first of their death, their cause of death, and where it would happen— with the other members of a squadron of Sixty-First soldiers with partial flight experience which she had joined. During this game, Su chose Howless to be the first to know about her death, considering her husband to have a black heart.[1]

Behind the scenes

Thage Howless was mentioned in the 2020 novel Shadow Fall, the second installment of the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy which was written by Alexander Freed.[1]

  2. StarWars.com In Shadow Fall, the Dark Secrets of Alphabet Squadron Revealed on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that Shadow Fall takes place approximately half a year after the Battle of Endor, while Before the Awakening states Kes Dameron and Shara Bey moved to Yavin 4 around six months after the Battle of Endor. Given that Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates their move to 5 ABY, the events of Shadow Fall must also take place around that time.
