- "My techs have finished analysing the ship you recovered as well as questioning the captives. It was true! A Dark Jedi named Ter-Doac Vaine has been controlling Garrick's mind and emotions. Causing him to be aggressive and even setting those thugs on me. This Ter-Doac Vaine must pay for what he has done. And he must not gain control of this station."
- ―Jonas Nova
Ter-Doac Vaine was a male Human Dark Jedi who lived during the Galactic Civil War.
Biography
In 1 ABY, it was discovered that Ter-Doac had been mind-controlling Garrick Orion and Jonas Nova in an attempt to cause a rift in the Nova Orion Industries. Ter-Doac's goal was to get Nova Orion Station to build weapons for his campaign to take control of the renegade Imperial Star Destroyer in the Bright Jewel system.
Behind the scenes
Ter-Doac Vaine appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] Ter-Doac Vaine was added to the game along with the "Nova Orion" quest series introduced in the "Chapter 8" update,[2] released on November 1, 2007.[5] His physical appearance could be seen briefly when he threatened a spacer via comm channel.[2] The game files reveal that his right hand was cybernetic, however as his hand was not seen during normal gameplay, the canonicity of this attribute is ambigious.

Notes and references
- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
