Several Codex entries through Star Wars: The Old Republic, specifically "Alien Initiatives", "Executor Krannus", and "Commander Vergost", as well as the novel The Old Republic: Annihilation, establish that prior to the Battle of Ilum, the Sith Empire is exceedingly humanocentric, and the Imperial Military was composed almost entirely of Humans and non-Force-sensitive Sith purebloods. It is only in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, after the Dark Council acknowledges that Darth Malgus's alliances with alien cultures would benefit the Empire, that aliens are permitted to become officers in the Imperial Military.
