Template documentation follows
The template above may sometimes be partially or fully invisible.
Visit Template:BookCite/doc to edit this documentation. (How does this work?)

This template is to be used for citing physical publications (books, magazines, newspapers, etc.) that are not licensed by Lucasfilm. To cite a licensed publication, simply cite a link to its Wookieepedia article.

Usage

Copy the template code below, and paste it into an article's reference note. Fill in as many fields as you can, and remove any that you don't use.

{{BookCite|author=|container=|title=|contributor=|version=|number=|publisher=|date=|pages=|language=|isbn=|issn=|quote=|link=}}

Parameters

  • |author=: Name(s) of the author(s). Must be formatted like "Last name, First name"; multiple authors must be separated with a ";" between their names. An author is not necessarily an individual and could be an organization. A long list of authors can be reduced using ", et al." after the first name. Provide wikilinks whenever they are available.
  • |container=: Name of a specific part of a larger publication, such as an introduction, an essay, an article, a chapter in an anthology/collection, or an entry in an encyclopedia. Do not use this parameter for standalone publications with a single author. Quotation marks will be added automatically.
  • |title=: Name of the publication being cited. Italic will be applied automatically. Provide wikilinks whenever they are available.
  • |contributor=: Name(s) of contributor(s), such as the editor or the translator.
  • |version=: Edition (ed.), reprint, etc.
  • |number=: Specific volume, number, or issue. Must be formatted like "vol. 1" or "no. 2".
  • |publisher=: Name of the publisher. Provide wikilinks whenever they are available.
  • |date=: Date of publication. For books, write only the year. For periodicals, use the cover date, not the actual release date, and either use "Month YYYY" for monthly publication or when the day is unknown, or use ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format.
  • |pages=: Page(s) relevant to the citation, formatted as "p. X" for a single page, or "pp. X-X" for several pages.
  • |language=: Language of publication. English implied if not specified.
  • |isbn=: International Standard Book Number. Will be linked to Special:BookSources automatically.
  • |issn=: International Standard Serial Number. Isn't linked, as there is no Special page to support it.
  • |quote=: Relevant quote from publication. Double-quotes will be added automatically.
  • |link=: Link to a web archive, such as Archive.org library or a archival link from the Wayback Machine.
