"Just can the wisecracks and pay attention to that starboard repulsorlift. It's been running kinda spotty."
"I've got a bad feeling about this trip."
"Yeah? Well maybe you'd rather wait around for the Imperials to land?"
"Point taken. I'll pay attention to the starboard repulsorlift."
―The captain of the Sidewinder and a passenger[2]

Tegrat was an Outer Rim Territories planet located in the Koradin sector. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire launched an invasion of Tegrat's star system, causing numerous inhabitants of the planet to rush toward the local spaceport and many starships fleeing Tegrat. Among the vessels that hastily left Tegrat was the light freighter Sidewinder, aboard which several individuals had booked passage to the planet Tatooine.

Description

Tegrat was a terrestrial planet located in the Tegrat system[2] of the Outer Rim Territories' Koradin sector.[1] It was situated at a distance of more than three days' hyperspace travel from the planet Tatooine[2] of the Outer Rim's Arkanis sector.[4]

History

The Galactic Empire targeted Tegrat, which was located in the Koradin sector, and its galactic neighborhood in its efforts to eradicate Rebel Alliance activity.

The Galactic Empire targeted Tegrat, which was located in the Koradin sector, and its galactic neighborhood in its efforts to eradicate Rebel Alliance activity.

At one point during the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, several individuals were on Tegrat while independently seeking transportation offworld. All of them eventually booked passage with the captain of the light freighter Sidewinder, which was carrying cargo to Tatooine, with the departure scheduled to take place just after the local noon. However, mere hours later, news reports revealed that capital ships of the Empire had arrived in the Tegrat system and were approaching the planet as part of an Imperial invasion of the system that in turn constituted a part of a wider effort by that government to eliminate Rebel activity in that area of the galaxy.[2]

Throngs of people, the group of individuals included, then began racing toward the local spaceport, from which numerous starships lifted off ahead of their schedules in order for the various residents of Tegrat to escape Imperial subjugation. After the crew and passengers of the Sidewinder hastily boarded the freighter, its captain briefly notified the local spaceport's control tower—which, in the general confusion, did not acknowledge the message—and traveled toward the hyperspace jump point. There, after fighting off a number of Imperial TIE fighters, the Sidewinder ultimately jumped into hyperspace.[2]

Locations

A spaceport with a control tower was located on Tegrat.[2]

Behind the scenes

Tegrat was introduced in Challenge 46.

Tegrat was introduced in Challenge 46.

Tegrat appeared in the roleplaying adventure "Imperial Research Station 13," written by Lester W. Smith and published in the OctoberNovember 1990 forty-sixth issue of the Challenge magazine for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Since that adventure was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process,[2] it was considered non-canonical with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Tegrat system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square J-18.[3]

"Imperial Research Station 13" suggests that the light freighter Sidewinder departs Tegrat while its captain is relatively unfamiliar with his new copilot. One explanation for this offered by the adventure is that the starship's previous copilot simply failed to arrive in time for the rushed take-off. In that case, as suggested by the adventure, the captain fully intends to return to Tegrat for them after the Imperial attention has shifted away from the planet again—presumably in a matter of a weeks.[2]
