The Tchuukthai homeworld was a planet in the Unknown Regions. It was home to the sentient Tchuukthai species, which, although discovered multiple times, was generally assumed to be primitive and dangerous. The Tchuukthai carefully guarded the identity and location of their homeworld. Eventually, the Tchuukthai Thon departed the planet after meeting a Jedi Master, ultimately becoming a Jedi himself.
Description
The Tchuukthai homeworld[3] was a terrestrial[2] planet located deep in the Unknown Regions.[1]
History
The planet was the homeworld of the Tchuukthai species.
Over the span of several centuries, the planet's native sentient Tchuukthai species were discovered more than once; however, explorers tended to presume they were dangerous, primitive beasts and avoided them. At one point, a Jedi Master encountered the species. Befriending a Tchuukthai, Thon, the Jedi explained to him much about the galaxy and ultimately invited him to travel with him offworld and train as a Jedi, an offer that the Tchuukthai accepted. Initially, however, Thon was reluctant to leave his home and was concerned that the wider galactic community knowing the true nature of the Tchuukthai would result in the latter's exploitation, in response to which the Jedi Master swore that he would protect their secret.[3]
For millennia, Thon, who himself became a Jedi Master, was the only Tchuukthai who had left the species' homeworld; it was possible that other Tchuukthai eventually followed suit, at times as pets or zoological exhibits. The species kept the identity and location of their homeworld a closely guarded secret, however.[3] Information about both the Tchuukthai and their homeworld remained sparse and unreliable[1] by around 4000 BBY,[4] and during the existence of the New Republic[3] between 4 ABY and 28 ABY,[5] the existence of the Tchuukthai was still considered only a rumor across most of the galaxy.[3]
Inhabitants
The Tchuukthai homeworld was home to the sentient, quadrupedal[3] reptilian[6] Tchuukthai species, members of which spoke the Tchuukthese language.[3]
Behind the scenes
The planet of origin of Thon and his species,[1] the Tchuukthai,[3] was first mentioned in the 1996 West End Games Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Tales of the Jedi Companion, which was written by George R. Strayton.[1] The world was subsequently referred to as the Tchuukthai homeworld in the April 10, 2003 Wizards.com Web Enhancement for Ultimate Alien Anthology,[3] a Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook published in April, 2003.[7] The web supplement was written by J.D. Wiker and Christopher Perkins.[3]
