Tauntaza's armor[3] was a suit of armor owned and worn by Imperial Governor Tauntaza of Gabredor III[1] between 3 ABY[4] and 4 ABY.[5] When Sith Lord Darth Vader attacked the Governor's Death Machine that she intended to use to convert the life force of the organic life in a large radius into usable energy, Tauntaza donned her power armor to take on the powerful Sith. With powerful laser beams, the capability to plug into various power sources, and the use of a jetpack, Tauntaza held her own against Vader and survived.[1]
When Tauntaza fell from grace after Vader exposed her as an agent of Crimson Dawn, though secretly still working for the Emperor, she was demoted and relegated to welding work. She used her armor to help with this labor. When Administrator Sly Moore created the Schism Imperial to weed out corruption and overthrow the Emperor, Tauntaza donated her services and used her armor to protect herself.[2] She soon modified her armor to be compatible with the energy capsules produced by her Death Machine.[6]
Tauntaza's armor gave her the ability to wield special kyberite energy weapons, such as Darth Vader's electrostaff and his Zaly Shield, which were both supercharged by the energy capsules and embedded Kyber crystals. Despite her suit's protections, however, flaws in the makeshift weapons design created significant feedback loops which caused damage to the weapon wielder when firing energy blasts from them.[7]
In order to attempt to kill Luke Skywalker on Caranthanax B, Tauntaza ceded control of her armor to Sly Moore so that the Umbaran could wield the weapons.[7] At the end of the mission, however, Moore returned the armor to Tauntaza.[8]
