Tass root,[2] also known simply as tass, was a kind of plant native to the planet Ruusan.[1] When powdered,[2] mixed with the flowers from the scintil vine, and dampened with water, it formed a highly corrosive paste that could eat through rock and metal.[1] In 990 BBY,[3] Darovit, a hermit living on Ruusan, used the paste to sabotage the construction of a monument being built in the Valley of the Jedi to honor the Jedi of the Army of Light who sacrificed their lives to destroy the Brotherhood of Darkness.[2]

Behind the scenes

Tass root first appeared in the 2007 novel Darth Bane: Rule of Two, written by Drew Karpyshyn as the second installment of the Star Wars: Darth Bane Trilogy.[2] The plant was identified only as tass in the 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.[1]
