Tanith Seyze was a Force-sensitive female individual, belonging to a vampire-like species. She possessed the ability to metamorphose, which was often triggered without her control, creating strong ripples in the Force. Wanted by the Empire for her abilities, Tanith joined the Rebel Alliance posing as a Human, where she was assigned to a small task team. After accidentally killing two important contacts and lethally injuring a member of her squad, her true identity was revealed.[1]
Biography
False Identity
Tanith facing a bounty hunter
Tanith Seyze's origins were unknown, with some believing she was a mutant, while others claimed she belonged to an ancient species of Otando. She was strong in the Force, but unable to fully control her powers. Her metamorphosis was often triggered by intense arousal, resulting in a deadly kiss that drained her lover's life. If this occurred while onboard a starship, it could be sensed by creatures living in hyperspace, who would attack it, leaving enormous scratches on its hull. Tanith lived under a false identity as a Human from the planet Adana, who joined the rebellion after losing her family. She kept her true form and abilities secret from her comrades and remained distant from them, knowing that avoiding desire is the only way of stopping herself from killing. Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader learned of her existence through the disturbances caused by her transformations and sent out their forces and bounty hunters to pursue her, wrongly believing she possessed the ability to Drain Knowledge from her victims.[1]
First failure
One of the missions assigned to Tanith and her team involved protecting a Sullustan ISB agent. The agent, either repentant for his life or working as a mole, had vital information he intended to share with the rebellion. While staying at an electrohotel en route to a planet where he could relay his intel to the rebel leaders, Tanith became intimate with the Sullustan and ended his life with a kiss. When his body was found in his room, Tanith's companions were shocked, as they had been standing guard outside the entire time and had no reason to suspect her.[1]
Grand Galactic Tour
Following this failure, Tanith's squad was assigned another mission. Béa Ejoc, a Human scientist and weapons designer who usually worked for the Empire, was secretly selling schematics of her inventions. She was scheduled to participate in the four-week Grand Galactic Tour aboard the Kuari Princess. The squad’s objective was to approach her, assess the strategic value of her designs, and, if deemed advantageous, purchase them and deliver to a contact on Bespin during the third week of the voyage. After escaping three TIE fighters, the team landed on Corellia and boarded a shuttle that transported them to the Kuari Princess, which was stationed above the planet's atmosphere.[1]
Onboard the cruiser, while the rest of her team monitored other passengers interested in Ejoc, including other potential buyers and a Gamorrean bounty hunter working for the Empire, Tanith gradually drew her attention. The scientist approached her after a few days, hoping to talk and befriend her. As the cruise progressed, the two became increasingly close. After the stop on Endor, Béa invited Tanith to a meal in her cabin, having laced the food with aphrodisiacs to ensure her advances would not be refused. Before the meal was finished, the two women moved to Béa's bed, where they made love. Unable to resist her desires, Tanith kissed her, draining her life.[1]
During their date, the Kuari Princess was pulled out of hyperspace and attacked by pirates. The rebels quickly regrouped and entered the scientist's room, finding her naked, still-warm body. Upon inspection, they noted the same symptoms as in the case of the ISB agent. Finding no valuable documents in the room, they left and encountered Tanith, who had slipped away earlier, claiming she had been trapped in an elevator. Shortly afterwards, imperial forces led by the Gamorrean bounty hunter began searching the cruiser. The squad stole a light freighter and escaped, evading additional fighters launched from nearby Bespin. Realizing they would not be able to hide there, they set a course back to Corellia and jumped into hyperspace.[1]
Confrontation on Corellia
Tanith during a transformation
After a ten-day hyperspace journey, the squad landed on Corellia and stopped at a hotel to rest and reflect on their failures and the mysterious murders. One member, either growing suspicious or hoping for some fun, lured Tanith into their room. During their meeting, she transformed once again and struck them with lightning but was interrupted by a bounty hunter who entered through the window. After injuring her arm and being electrocuted in return, the hunter fled. Alerted by their companion's scream, the rest of the team rushed in and found them mortally wounded. Mistaking Tanith's altered appearance for smeared makeup, they followed her directions and discovered the hunter's body along with an imperial file that exposed the woman's true identity.[1]
Meanwhile, running from both her friends and imperial soldiers, Tanith hid in the streets of Corellia. Her team quickly tracked her down by following the trail of blood from her injured arm. When they confronted her, she saved their lives by killing two imperial soldiers who suddenly appeared behind them. Torn between duty and gratitude, they deliberated on what to do next, aware that her fate was in their hands.[1]
Personality and traits
A diagram of Tanith's deadly kiss
Tanith Seyze had the appearance of a Human woman, with long dark hair. During her Metamorphosis, which often occurred during sexual intercourse, dark markings appeared around her eyes and bolts of lightning burst from her mouth. She would kiss their partner, her tongue penetrating their skull to their brain, draining all of their emotions, with the electricity ultimately killing them. Loathing death, she attempted to avoid physical contact, though her desires often overwhelmed her.[1]
Behind the scenes
Tanith Seyze appeared in Tanith: the Guest-Star Wars, a roleplaying article published in the French magazine Graal 24 in 1990, written by Olivier Frot. Along with her lover, Béa Ejoc, she is the first LGBTQ+ character in the Star Wars universe.[1]
