- "The spirits first called upon me as I lay cold and trembling, struck with a fatal affliction while birthing my first daughter."
- ―"Wild Power," Mother Talzin
A Dathomirian[2] female was the firstborn daughter of Mother Talzin, matriarch and shaman of the Witches of Dathomir's Nightsister coven on[1] the Outer Rim Territories[3] planet Dathomir. In her religious manifesto Wild Power,[1] published sometime between 22 BBY and 20 BBY,[4] Talzin claimed that while giving birth to her daughter, she was struck with a fatal affliction and nearly died. She cited that during a vision of the Spirit World, she was saved by the Spirits—mythological embodiments of the Force in Nightsister mythology. Wild Power was one of many writings collected in the Sith historical book Book of Sith, assembled by Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious sometime between 19 BBY and 18 BBY.[1]
Behind the scenes
Talzin's firstborn daughter was mentioned in the 2012 reference book, Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side, written by Daniel Wallace and published by Chronicle Books.[1] In his endnotes for the Book of Sith, Wallace said he mapped the events of Talzin's biography, specifically the birth of her daughter, against the real-world traditions of shamanism.[5]

Mother Talzin in the Encyclopedia (original site is defunct) establishes that Talzin is a member of the Dathomirian species.
Nightsisters in the Encyclopedia (original site is defunct) establishes that the Nightsisters under Talzin's rule were all Dathomirian. Therefore, Talzin's daughter must be Dathomirian as well.

- ↑ Wild Power, as showcased in Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side, mentions the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance. Jedi Alliance takes place during the Clone Wars, the beginning of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 22 BBY. The game must also take place before the events of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film due to the presence of Ziro within his palace. The Essential Reader's Companion dates the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film to 22 BBY, so the writing of Wild Power must have taken place afterwards. The book must also have been written prior to the destruction of the Nightsisters as shown in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Massacre." The Official Star Wars Fact File Part 100 20 BBY 39-40: Battle of Dathomir dates the events of "Massacre" to 20 BBY. Therefore, Wild Power must have been written between 22 BBY and 20 BBY.
