Tahiri Phrase

Does anyone here know the phrase Tahiri-Riina used to describe a promise in the spirit of a promise, rather than the exact words?--The Erl of Yuuzhan'tar

  • It was us-hrok, which indicated indebtness and loyalty to Jaina for her help. They didn't give an exact translation. -- SFH 02:01, 9 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • No, that was at the end of Force Heretic 3, when she's Riina-fied. I'm talking about during the Final Prophecy. Tahiri promises a Shamed one on Dagobah that she will bring news of the living world to Yuuzhan'tar. When she tells Han, he points out that she only promised to tell the Vong about Dagobah, and Tahiri replies that "it was (missing word)--a promise in the spirit of the promise, not to fufill its exact meaning" (note: the quote was paraphrased). I don't have my copy on hand right now but I'll try to find it later.--The Erl of Yuuzhan'tar
  • Oh, my mistake. The promise was izai. -- SFH 23:09, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Overall setup

Does there really need to be a link on every one of those texts? If it's linking to something else (like one of the gods, for example) then I think it's fine, but some of those don't really need to have links on them. Though there are a few differences, obviously, it might be a good idea to compare the formatting to what's being done over on the Mando'a page, which is pretty well organized for linguistic purposes. That's just my two cents, though. Keralys 23:04, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I agree. We should tag all of the words with the "merger" tag to this page, then shift the definitions here.--The Erl of Yuuzhan'tar
    • I went ahead and tagged them. Hopefully somebody will be able to take care of the merge and deletion; I don't have time at the moment.Keralys 03:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
  • All right, but one of those, Yun'o, was a list of the Yuuzhan Vong's gods, so it should be kept as a separate article. As should Jeedai, as other people pronounced it like that, so it's a legitimate slang article. -- SFH 04:37, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Jeedai?

Was that a genuine Yuuzhan Vong word? I thought it was just a transcription of the word, "Jedi". Custodes 13:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

  • It's a loanword. The Yuuzhan Vong, having no word for Jedi since they've never encountered them before NJO, borrowed the word from Basic. Jeedai is what the word becomes when bent to obey Yuuzhan Vong pronunciation and accent rules, and it effectively became part of the language. So while it's not a genuinely Yuuzhan Vong word, it's part of the language and bares mentioning. Vongchild 00:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
