Ewok Movies

There is no mention of the events of the Ewok movies in Wicket's biography! This article needs to be expanded all over, but especially with info about the events from the movies. -- Ozzel 05:30, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm on it! Adamwankenobi 20:34, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Great work! I'll upload a couple of screenshots and see if I can't find a better image for the main pic. -- Ozzel 21:32, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
    • BTW, I say good job to the work that you and User:Cutch have been doing to the TV-related articles! Adamwankenobi 21:36, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Thanks. :-) -- Ozzel 02:13, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Move

Should this be moved to Wicket Wystri Warrick? -- Ozzel 02:13, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Let's wait until we finish the discussion on Wookieepedia:Consensus track/Article Names: Real vs. Adopted first. The way that discussion is currently going, people might even want to move this to Wicket Warrick. Me, I think it looks better with the middle initial. —Silly Dan (talk) 02:20, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
    • So, now that the naming thing is pretty much decided, should we move this his full name? -- Ozzel 05:09, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
      • I interpret the consensus forming at the new discussion as meaning it should be at Wicket Warrick, Wicket Wystri Warrick, or Wicket Wystri Warrick, depending on which version of the full name was used more frequently. I note that the Star Wars Encyclopedia, Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi, and the Databank only use the middle initial. (The Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, Special Edition just uses Wicket, but I think all sides are agreeing on full names.) Also, checking Google: "Wicket Warrick" gives 328 hits, "Wicket W. Warrick" gives 26,300 hits, "Wicket Wystri Warrick" gives 250 hits, and Wicket alone would be overloaded with cricket results so I'm not going to bother. I suggest we move this back to Wicket W. Warrick. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:28, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
  • The full name Wicket Wystri Warrick is the best choice. Usually, the Wookieepedia community chooses the full official names for all the characters, even not being the most known names. Wicket's full name was revealed at The Essential Guide to Alien Species. -- Delmar Nori 00:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
    • I don't see how one source makes something "official". The fact that the databank doesn't mention the name (as compared to, say "Wilhuff" Tarkin, which appears in the EU section) makes this one sketchy. Simple familiarity indicates that this should go back to Wicket Wystri Warrick. Darth Prefect 15:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

HUGE Continuity Error

So... just watched my copy of the Ewok TV movies (belated birthday present)... and Wicket speaks Basic in The Battle for Endor. Which brings up the question: why the heck doesn't he speak Basic when he meets Leia? In my opinion, a gross continuity error that should be addressed in this article. Any comments on possible retcons? Cutch 07:11, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

  • See Ewoks: The Battle for Endor#Alleged continuity issues. The idea that makes the most sense to me, though, is that Wicket simply forgot. I took years of Spanish in high school, but I only remember a fraction of it. The same thing likely happened with Wicket. Then factor in that Wicket was very young and that Ewoks may not be as smart as humans, and it seems like a pretty reasonable explanation. -- Ozzel 22:27, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
    • According to the timeline on this page, the events in the 2nd Ewok movie take place about a year before the Battle for Endor, so forgetting is unlikely. It being a language other than basic would make more sense, though the con of that would be that in the Star Wars movies, basic is the most common language for humans to speak, but it is the most realistic scenario for the timeline. Perhaps it could just be something as simple as accents, where Cindel's accent and Leia's accent are so dissimilar that to Wicket, he doesn't realize it's the same language, and his Basic could simply be incomprehensible to Leia. Ever hear a toddler speak? Sometimes it's as if only their parents can understand the words until they get older. We might be getting a translated form of baby-speak (PS: My first time ever doing anything with a wiki. I stumbled upon this site after watching the Ewok movies and curious about the timeline myself)
      • I heard an explanation somewhere, maybe Insider, that Cindel and her family aren't speaking basic, rather, the movie is told in basic. This is sort of like WWII movies of Germans Russians speaking English, they certainly wouldn't be in real life but it makes the movie easier to watch. If this were the case then Wicket would have no prior experience with Basic and therefor wouldn't be able to speak to or understand Leia. RebelRogue 01:50, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Warrick name

Was this name created in honor of Warwick Davis, or is the similarity to the actor's name just a coincedence?

  • Uh, that would be a substantial coincidence. .... 07:37, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Especially since the actor's name, while spelled Warwick, is pronounced Warrick.

The question is, can this be put on the page? Is it explicitly stated by anyone or is this just extremely likely supposition? I mean, it's got to be true--it's too ridiculous to be pure coincidence--but is it likely enough to justify putting it on the page as a "Behind The Scenes" fact?

If it turns out that it was all just a coincidence, that should be put in the "Behind The Scenes" section as well.

Endor Holocaust

This article says that Wicket was married, so how could the Holocaust happen? —Unsigned comment by 24.63.167.114 (talk • contribs)

  • It didn't happen. See Endor Holocaust. -- Ozzel 05:24, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Any chance that Wicket could have died if the Holocaust did happen?OOM-10 16:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Force Sensitive?

In one of those wacky Ewoks episodes, Wicket is able to see the spirit of his ancestor. Whilst this makes the ancestor undoubtedly Force sensitive, does that mean that Wicket is too be default? .... 23:41, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

If wicket was force sensitive the jedi should have found him. by Maxi6

  • In Ewoks 6: The Ice Demon, Logray teaches Wicket 'magic' tricks and tells him he has only to practice, and he will be able to do them. Later, Wicket steals Logray's staff and is able to use it to lift Teebo from the ground. True enough, the staff is said to be magical, but I have yet to see a Force-imbued item be used by a non-sensitive. It seems pretty clear he was Force sensitive. DarthMRN 22:46, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
    • And Logray's article says Wicket was to be his apprentice, but was found to have too limited abilities. Teebo on the other hand, bacame Logray's star apprentice. DarthMRN 22:49, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Wicket was made a Jedi. --Eyrezer 14:36, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
  • Where does that happen? I need a link... but it just sounds like fanon to me for now. -Kath.Hound 16:03, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
  • The image is a link, and it is not fanon. It was published in Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds. However, that Ewok is not Wicket, at least not to my knowledge. -- Ozzel 16:26, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Run away!

I'm going to put in the info about the easter egg involving wicket on Disc 4 of the Original Trilogy boxset in the Behind the Scenes sectionOOM-10 19:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Well, that's just one part of Return of the Ewok. Wicket's adventures from the whole film should probably be included in the article somewhere. -- Ozzel 19:59, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Well sure... you are talking about the easter egg where Boba Fett tries to shoot Wicket right?OOM-10 16:47, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Having seen the whole film, that's not supposed to be Wicket doing that, it's supposed to be Warwick Davis dressed as an Ewok runnning around and encountering Star Wars characters who come to life on set. The film is about how he stumbles upon the role as Wicket, and it mixes the real-world with some Star Wars elements. Adamwankenobi 17:00, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
  • OK. Thanks.OOM-10 11:18, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Can I get some other peoples opinions on the main image?

TV movie image

  1. I think this one has some better lighting, and looks better in the infobox, tbh. Greyman Jan.png (Talk) 22:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Even though it's crazy-eyes-Warrick, I'm gonna have to go with the lighter one. I'd change the vote if a better version of image 2 could be found, though that will be all but impossible, as Ozzel has already tried (and stated). Jorrel20pxFraajic 22:20, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. A) You should have asked or done this vote in the first place, JMAS. B) The ROTJ shot is a poor photograph; too much detail lost in the shadows. C) The current shot is of the most "revised" version of the Wicket suit. D) It's more of a headshot. E) Though I know I've not given it much attention lately, I am still working on this thing, and I may want to save the ROTJ shot for later in the article. I know it's been in the works forever, but I'd hoped that if any discussion such as this were to happen, it would be after this hits the FAN page. -- Ozzel 22:50, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

ROTJ promo image

  1. I believe the ROTJ promotional image is far superior - JMAS Hey, it's me! 14:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Yeah, it's a much crisper image. Adamwankenobi 16:13, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. It's the best image. But we must find a lighter version. - Delmar Nori 22:47, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Eh, it's still a work in progress, so for now, let's say no to "scary eyes" Wicket and stick with the more memorable one. Cull Tremayne 07:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Opunia

I can find no reference to this mission in the Galactic Battlegrounds Saga. All the Endor missions in that game refer to the Battle of Endor, not a new conflict 5 years later. Can someone track down where exactly Wicket's mission to Opunia comes from?72.80.168.178 05:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

  • It's from "Ewok Adventure", one of the "Design Your Own Mission" contest winners. See here. -- Ozzel 03:27, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Palpatine almost killed

it says in the wicket article, "He almost even inadvertently killed Emperor Palpatine while defending the sunstar during Doctor Raygar's quest for Imperial domination."

what i dont get is why isnt he a main character, because he came so close to killing Palpatine, and that would have changed the course of star wars.

what r ur thoughts on that? Wizcharles5 01:16, December 23, 2010 (UTC)
