Anyone else find it odd that Talon Karrde's pet Vornskr's (Sturm and Drang) names can be rearranged to spell Durmstrang from Harry Potter? --24.247.126.44 00:56, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • Not really; like many of Karrde's names for things, the names for his vornskrs are creative puns (vz. Wild Karrde, Starry Ice, or Uwana Buyer). Sturm und Drang was a romantic literary movement here on Earth, with presumably similar overtones of youthful genius and nature in the Star Wars galaxy. I'm guessing the Harry Potter character is a similar pun. jSarek 01:21, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)

How do vornskrs hunt Ysalamiri?

Since ysalamiri repel the Force, how are vornskrs supposed to use the Force to find them? It would be like trying to find something that repels light using your eyes.--Will 06:30, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, something in a well-lit room that repels light would probably be pretty easy to see. jSarek 08:31, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Except you can't see it. There is NO light in the area. In fact, you would not be able to see anything in the area.--Will 08:36, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Maybe the Vornskrs force-hunting evolved before or at the same time the ysalamiri started repelling the force, both could be a reaction on the other.
    • The Vornskr hunt by looking for the lack of the force, Like looking for the black nothingness in a room of white light!!! - Awar 07:05, 25 March 2007 (UTC).
  • No. This should be obvious - the Ysalamiri developed their ability to exist inside an area without the Force as an evolutionary defense-mechanism to the Vornskrs ability to track them through the Force.

This, like other evolutionary defense-mechanisms here on Earth, was a way of adaptation to ensure survival. Duh? --The truth hurts... 22:25, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Since ysalamiri repel the Force, how are vornskrs supposed to use the Force to find them?

They're not. That's the idea - the whole point of the Force-negating bubble evolution. --The truth hurts... 22:25, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

    • Mabby vornskr hunt other creatures with the force. even though a vorsnork can't sence the Ysalamiri but the ysalamiri is bright yellow lizard that is almost imoble the vornskrs could use their non-force realated sences to find them.--Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin 19:48, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

I noticed that in foc ysalamiri trees on the planet give off purriple light. If they really do that then this raises the anaogy of a bubble of darkness in a lit room to comaritivly a bubble of darkness that makes the sound of an alarm clock.--Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin 20:13, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Ysalamiri don't actually repel the Force. They just make a bubble inside which no one can use the Force. The Vornskr probably originally used the Force-sense to find the Ysalamiri directly, but now use it to find places where they can't use the Force-sense, then use their other senses from there. It would narrow down their search, even if they couldn't use it once they reached the bubble. (Just a guess) The Vornskr do seem to be at a disadvantage in that regard, but they wouldn't have a reason to give up this sense once Force-users started appearing on their planet. And as someone else pointed out, the Ysalamiri are relatively defenseless otherwise. The bubble mechanism is simply a form of camouflage. Just because a chameleon can look like its surroundings doesn't mean that it won't be spotted by a predator. DesertAnubis (talk) 17:13, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

Vornskr

Is the word "Vornskr" supposed to be capitalized though the entire article? "Ysalamir" also seems to be capitalized where it shouldn't be in this article. Duchess Jade Republic Emblem (Completely Coruscanti) 23:08, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
