The six Star Destroyers listed as his "personal fleet"...I've already read that text as in they were ISDs in his overall fleet. There are more ISDs, like Bellicose. Why are those special? Did I miss that in one of the books? --SparqMan 13:19, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

  • From the box on page 66 of The Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook: "The first thing Grand Admiral Thrawn set out to do when he took command of the remnants of the Empire was to establish an armada. Around his armada he would rebuild the Imperial Fleet, once again making the Empire the masters of space. The centerpieces of this armada were five Imperial Star Destroyers." The box then goes on to name and describe these five SDs, and mention other ships attached to the armada for the Sluis Van assault. On page 68, the book notes "When the Relentless was left out of Thrawn's personal armada, Dorja saw the oversight as a slight against him." This definitely implies that Thrawn's armada played a more central and/or prestigious role in the overall fleet, though how it was special has not been precisely elaborated on. jSarek 08:37, 13 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • Um, based on that quote, I'd suggest a distinction should been drawn between "Thrawn's fleet" and "Thrawn's armada": the usage of Force Two Armada in Shield of Lies (anyone got the original context?) suggests that "armada" is a technical term which can be applied to various strengths of force. In this case, that means a group of Star Destroyers (which are the five named ImpStars, btw?), which could be regarded as merely a command taskforce, analogous to Death Squadron. Thrawn is clearly deploying far more than a mere handful of ImpStars, so equating this "armada" with any sort of "fleet" is IMHO a mistake, as is describing Thrawn's fleet as "relatively small". --McEwok 15:43, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Would Jorus C'baoth count as an 'officer'? I think he's important enough to be at least mentioned here, if not there. Kuralyov 21:39, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

  • I assume you mean Joruus, the clone. He perhaps deserves a mention in the upper paragraph for the role he played in coordinating the expanded fleet, but not a listing as an officer. --SparqMan 23:28, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Catagory

I don't believe Thrawn's fleet was an Imperial organization. It was a part of the Empire, after all, therefore not making it a separate organization. So why, then, is this under the Imperial organizations catagory? Cmdr. J. Nebulax 18:30, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC)

More Updates

Some rearrangement, additions and subtractions, based on information from the Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook. For instance, I've repositioned the mention of the Strikes and Carracks to more accurately reflect where that information derives from, and I've added a reference to a splash image of Thrawn's fleet that I'll try to get a copy of up and embedded in the page as soon as possible. I've also removed a couple of things:

  • Does anyone know precisely where the "ten Interdictors" remark comes from?
  • I have no idea why Sair Yonka and the Avarice were there, since they'd gone over to the New Republic as of The_Bacta_War, and we learn in Isard's_Revenge that the renamed Freedom and her captain remained with the Rebels throughout the period - she was damaged by the mole-miners at Sluis Van, and participated at Bilbringi as part of Ackbar's fleet. --McEwok 21:24, 12 Sep 2005 (UTC)

In the newly released Essential Guide to Warfare, they mention that upon Thrawn's retiurn from the Unkown Regions he took over control of Death Squadron which had been reduced to 12 ships out of the original massive group at Endoe, and was split into 2 groups (the main group was the six including Chimaeara as they were considered loyal to Bastion and then the other 6 including Relentelss. 165.138.0.21 15:24, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
