Appearances section

Seeing as how the galaxy appears in literally every single piece of canon Star Wars media, I suggest we change the appearances section to only include specific mentions of the galaxy. Cevan (talk) 00:36, April 6, 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I've been doing only mentions, descriptions and hologram appearances. Calvin Schubert(talk) 00:58, April 6, 2015 (UTC)

Is this a stub?

I don't think this is a stub anymore . . . thinking maybe we should remove the tag?Dretlerthedroid (talk) 14:12, August 9, 2017 (UTC)

The Galaxy

I'd like to propose capitalizing the title, changing it to "The Galaxy" - I believe it would feel more formal, and more appropriate for a wiki article.

While in official sources, "the galaxy" is used most of the time, "the Galaxy" was used once in the Star Wars Maps: Charting the Galaxy post.

"Later in the movie, when Padmé Amidala tells Anakin Skywalker they need to go rescue Obi-Wan on Geonosis, a top-down view of the Galaxy map can be seen on the console of her yacht."

All map images, on the other hand, seem to use all-caps "THE GALAXY", which unfortunately offers no obvious emphasis on any of the letters. - Sligneris (talk) 09:35, December 4, 2017 (UTC)

Can we add astrographies to each of the galaxies regions?

Why is this being referred to with “was a” instead of “is a”? Did the galaxy blow up or something? In fact, why is everything in this wiki referred to in past-tense? Mooshry (talk) 22:33, December 23, 2019 (UTC)

  • "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." 1358 (Talk) 22:36, December 23, 2019 (UTC)

but just because it was long ago doesn’t mean the entire galaxy should be in past-tense, unless it went supernova. Mooshry (talk) 23:17, December 23, 2019 (UTC)

The main image of luke and leia looking at the "galaxy" should be changed to a cannon map od the galaxy because the book Star Wars made easy confirmed this was a star and not the galaxy unlike in legendsUnsigned comment by Wiki Cøol (talk • contribs)

Map

The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary has an updated map of the galaxy (pages 34-35), including new canon planets. Could we use that image for this article or would it be against copyright rules? --Castelgard (talk) 18:28, December 27, 2019 (UTC)

  • We can use the image, as long as this template is filled in. If you're planning to use the image, I would replace the image in the Astrography section with the one from the visual dictionary --Lewisr (talk) 18:45, December 27, 2019 (UTC)

Number of star systems

For those wondering, Matt Martin confirmed on Twitter than the galaxy had 3.2 billion habitable star systems and not 3.2 million; it's a typo.Unsigned comment by Pilego (talk • contribs)

HE MEANT BILLION, JUST REPLACE THE B WITH A M AND YOU GET BILLION. Come on...Unsigned comment by Pilego (talk • contribs)

HE SAID IT WAS A TYPO ! We we were talking about the Star Wars Book on Twitter, and he said it shall be corrected in future printings ! He meant that the true number were the one in Legends. Don't be stupid, please, and look at the full conversation on Twitter.Unsigned comment by Pilego (talk • contribs)

  • Again, the Twitter conversation only says that it's a typo in Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. It never mentions The Star Wars Book once, and The Star Wars Book also states that there were 3.2 million. Second of all, Matt never "confirmed on Twitter than the galaxy had 3.2 billion habitable star systems", all he said is that 3.2 million was a typo in Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. Finally, Tweets are not Canon sources, so even if Lucasfilm does consider 3.2 billion the Canon number, Wookieepedia won't add this information until an official source states it. Also, please familiarize yourself with the civility policy. Ramsay Sanders (talk) 10:40, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

The Star Wars book is the most current source, so the VD would be outdated.Wolfscar1 (talk) 14:42, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Star Systems

Matt Martin said "3.2 million" star systems was a typo. So following the logic which says it doesn't mean it is 3.2 billion (which is wrong when you look at the complete conversation),to let "3.2 million" is then a mistake. So nothing would be better in that case. But to persist that way is a little pathetic.Unsigned comment by Pilego (talk • contribs)

New Map

Star Wars.com updated the galaxy map and I was wondering if anyone more experienced than I in Wiki editing could add this image as the new image for this page. Thank you! They'll be constantly updating this map, so I guess page editors will have to be vigilant.

    • The Current image features 0 out-of-universe terminology (Star Wars) and no map will be 100% complete. There's no reason to update it every time it gets changed, cause maps will omit things with each change. NBDani TeamFireballLogo-Collider(they/them)Yeager's Repairs 12:31, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
