Consensus to rename it "the Smuggler?"
In order to make our lives easier—and to be able to write less clunky phrases—I wondered whether we could strike a community consensus and refer to this character as "the Smuggler." Although the only basis for that nickname is rather flimsy, I think our articles would benefit from that choice. If necessary, we could make a template that explains our reasoning and put it at the top of the article. Thoughts? --LelalMekha (talk) 16:23, February 4, 2016 (UTC)
- Better to rename it then having to provide context for Riley on every single article. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 16:28, February 4, 2016 (UTC)
- My point exactly. Although few people seem to have an interest in that game, I still want to have a greater community insight on that particular issue, because naming conventions are tricky matters. --LelalMekha (talk) 16:32, February 4, 2016 (UTC)
Changing the species of the Smuggler and Riley
Hi
The Smuggler species is now currently set to Human, because it seemed so from the start. But now I see more often that she is portrayed as a Twi'lek in all official posters, avatar and clips (https://playstarwarsuprising.com/) so maybe we should also change the species?

- You make a good point, and I've actually been bothered by that for some time. But I don't know what course of action should be taken here. There's no reason for a piece of promotional material to take precedence over another, so we find ourselves at an impasse. :-/ (And it would be useless to ask the powers that be about it; they're never going to assign a canonical gender and species to the Smuggler as long as the game is still going. That would annoy too many players.) -LelalMekha (talk) 10:59, May 17, 2016 (UTC)
Rename
Per the naming policy, this page should be moved to either Unidentified smuggler (Uprising) (for example) or Riley's sibling. As pointed out above, the latter option may require additional context for who Riley is, so I think the former option is best. Does anyone have other thoughts on this? - Cwedin(talk) 21:08, November 9, 2019 (UTC)
- This feels to me like a corner case not well-covered by existing policy, to be honest. The character isn't unidentified in the game... it's just that they're identified by whatever name the player chooses for them. Which makes this feel very much like an "ignore all rules" / local-consensus situation, due to the unusual, doesn't-fit-within-the-rule-structure nature of the character's "in-universe" identity.
- "Riley's sibling" (the article's previous title) doesn't really fit (in my view) not just because it requires further context, but because it inverts the identity relationship between the two characters. If anything, Riley's core identity -- despite being a named character --- is being the Uprising protagonist's sibling, not the other way around. So, IMHO the previous move away from that title was a good decision.
- I could get behind "The Smuggler (Uprising)", though, just to be more specific. Or maybe even something like "The Smuggler (Uprising protagonist)", if there was consensus for a title along those lines. FeRDNYC (talk) 20:53, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
- There isn't a need to move to a parenetical title as there's currently no other canon page competing for the page name "The Smuggler" Lewisr (talk) 21:02, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
Outdated expansion request?
This article is tagged with Template:Expand, but there's no expansion request here on the talk page, and it doesn't appear that the article is incomplete or lacking in any way as it currently stands. Is that merely an outdated template? FeRDNYC (talk) 19:23, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
