Canon Status
I think that this game should be listed under the Canon games section, because it is a faithful adaptation of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which is considered canon. Much as Battlefront (2015) and video game adaptations of films and TV show episodes (Siege of Lothal adaptation) are likewise considered canon I argue that this game (the Star Wars portion only) be accepted as a canonical source of characters, information, and events. The events would only be to the status of "a traveler visiting Batuu helped Hondo Ohnaka steal a package..." etc. Obviously Sims-specific content would not be counted. Ite93 (talk)
- I don't think we should do that. Not even Battlefront missions are meant to be taken as canon, so I would not agree on that. The game seems to be non-canon similar on how Disney Infinity 3.0 is treated. Subjects might receive canonical names in those games, but it doesn't mean that the event are canon.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 02:29, September 23, 2020 (UTC)
- My counter to that is that the video game adaptations and Battlefront are still listed as Canon Computer Games and are part of the Timeline of Canon Media, even with the true statement that you have made. What about this game makes it different in your opinion? Ite93 (talk)
- I don't know what you mean by video game adaptations. The game has several non-canonical elements, which is the reason of why is non-canon right now. Speaking with other people the game seems to be similar to Disney Infinity which means that the game is non-canonical, but the elements and names are canonical. You can wait for more people give their opinions, but that's the current information we have.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:06, September 23, 2020 (UTC)
- For example, Battlefront 2015 adapts the OT and Rogue One, but you yourself have argued it has non-canon elements/events in it. When I look at the Timeline of Canon Media I see adaptations for "The Siege of Lothal" as well as for things like "The Phantom Menace". Bottom line is I want the game considered canon to keep it on my shelf with my other canon stuff, haha. But, I do think it is comparable in canon content to Battlefront 2015, and as such should be included on the timeline as an adaptation of Galaxy's Edge. Ite93 (talk) 04:15, September 23, 2020 (UTC)
- We don't consider any event from Battlefront as canon. The only canonical event from Battlefront is the VR mission, which is completely separate from the main game. We don't just going to make something canon or non-canon for just a space on the shelf. The game is not an adaptation for GE, its based on the place and some of the events, but its not an adaptation.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:22, September 23, 2020 (UTC)
- So I have been compiling names of NPCs in the game, and I am not sure the names are consistent across all of the games. Some names are repeated with different NPCs, as well as reused first names and last names. For example, I found three characters with the first name “Qurzit” and two different NPCs both names “Travor Roeder” (one was female, one was male). I’m not sure the NPCs can be used the same was as Infinity 3.0 NPCs. Your thoughts? Ite93 (talk) 19:33, September 25, 2020 (UTC)
