Is the Emperor's theme a variant of the Imperial March, or simply based on it? User:SFH
No, the Emperor's theme has no resemblance to the Imperial March in any way shape or form. It is the incredibly dark vocal piece performed by a foreboding male choir (although I believe there are some hints of a female choir in the ROTS version) whenever the Emperor/Darth Sidious flourishes or is present. By the way, I think there should be more commentary on the actual content of the theme rather than when and where it is heard in each movie.
Name
Where is it referred to as "The Emperor's Theme"? The OT soundtrack includes "The Emperor Arrives" and "Emperor's Throne Room" - \\Captain Kwenn// — Ahoy! 13:04, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
The Imperial March
In reply to user:SFH, the Emperor's Theme does contain the Imperial March, as do several other themes associated with the Empire, the Dark Side, and Anakin/Darth Vader. I'd privide a link, but sice I can't, Youtube it and check. Unless I'm mistaken, the Imperial March plays from 0:03-0:008, from 0:21-0:41, and from 1:48-2:04. 142.26.194.190 16:03, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

- I Youtubed the Emperor's Theme and picked the first option, the one uploaded by by "CIAMPIJULEPPO". It's called "Star Wars Emperor's Theme - John Williams". The second option also contains elements of the Imperial March. 142.26.194.190 19:07, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

I should note that the page of sheet music shown on this page for The Emperor's Theme in fact contains the bombastic rendition of The Imperial March that plays as we observe the parade of TIE fighters outside the Death Star and inside the hangar bay immediately before Palpatine descends the ramp of the shuttle - but the sheet music shown cuts off before the introduction of The Emperor's Theme itself.
