Non-SW links
The non Star Wars links in this article prevent us from having to include non Star Wars details in the article itself. If we do not link to reptile, for example, we ought to explain the non-Star Wars meaning inside the article. --SparqMan 01:52, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
- I removed them because they were dead links to articles that wouldn't belong on Wookieepedia. If you had intended to link to Wikipedia, try using the form [[Wikipedia:Reptile|reptilian]] (I personally don't like linking in this fashion, but it's not like I'm dictator or anything—if this is what you wanted to do, go for it.). -- Aidje 02:01, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
I apologize, I thought that I had linked in that fashion. --SparqMan 02:15, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
- Okay. I probably should have realized your intent and simply fixed the links. Sorry about the misunderstanding. -- Aidje 02:21, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
scaly
what is the source of the scaly tauntaun
- Good question... I've never seen it in anything (Planet Guide, Wildlife, Species Guide, Illustrated Universe, etc.) Cutch 04:11, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
more than likely this is a case of mistaken identity there is a picture of a tauntaun in the wildlife guide without fur. it says under the picture fur removed to show skin texture. or something like that Ralok 22:48, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it's been long enough. Removing... Cutch 23:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
The scaly tauntaun was a web enhancement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast. You can find more information here. Schlinge 13:43, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Wildlife of Star Wars states that they had scaly hides.--Darth OblivionComlink

Speed
Doesn't the running speed of 90 kilometers-per-hour only apply to to Giant tauntauns?--Darth OblivionComlink 02:21, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Images
I don't know about everyone else, but I'd love to have an image of the tauntaun getting cut open. Call me sick, but the guts spilling out always made me laugh for some strange reason. I don't know exactly why.... Anyway, I think it'd be good seeing as it has to do with their anatomy and all that.--User: LtCol. JuiceStain 7:21, 20 April 2007
- I agree with juicy that we really do need a pic of the cut up tauntaun. even so you seriously need help juice!!!!!--PyRo 12:02, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know. Anyway, I'd upload the pic myself, but I don't have teh picture, and I'm not about to snap it with my cell phone, because we all know how well those turn out.--LtCol. JuiceStain 21:40, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
sleeping bag
Thinkgeek.com ran an add for a tauntaun sleeping bag as an April Fools Day joke in 2009. Apparently it received SO much interest that they're actually exploring the possibility of merchandising it for real.
I was wondering if this is going to be interesting enough to be worthy of a new article and/or mention in this article. Does anyone concur? Medleystudios72 19:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds like something for the Merchandise Wiki: http://swmerchandise.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:09, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
How is the word pronounced?
Hi colleagues! Please type, how the word tauntaun is pronounced. Is it look like [tɔːntɔːn] ? Sightsaber (talk) 10:02, August 19, 2013 (UTC)
- According to The Essential Guide to Alien Species, it's pronounced [tɑːntɑːn], where "ɑ" is like the vowel sound in "part" or "calm." --LelalMekha (talk) 18:08, September 17, 2013 (UTC)
Pronunciation
The pronunciation is /ˈtɔːntɔːn/ and the page should be changed. 27.252.228.241 23:00, December 18, 2014 (UTC)
- The pronunciation used in the article is correct. Both The Essential Guide to Alien Species and The New Essential Guide to Alien Species render it as "Tän’-tän," in which ä is "an open a sound used for words like part, calm, or father." --Lelal Mekha

- It's only /ˈtɑːntɑːn/ if the speaker has the cot-caught merger. It's /ˈtɔːntɔːn/ for everyone else. 27.252.217.9 22:02, December 19, 2014 (UTC)

- I have an official source in my hand, the previously mentioned The Essential Guide to Alien Species, and it says "tän'-tän". If you have an official source that says otherwise, what is it? Trip391 (talk) 03:52, December 24, 2014 (UTC)

- We need to see a Star Wars source. In this case, the way it's written on the page is the official Star Wars stance. As such, that's what we use. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:17, December 24, 2014 (UTC)
- So we're just going to have the pronunciation not representative of the majority of English speakers? 27.252.199.196 04:25, December 24, 2014 (UTC)
