Near-Human

The Coruscant article says the Taung were Near-Human. Is that what the New Essential Chronology says? Because they sure don't look it. — Silly Dan 04:23, 11 Dec 2005 (UTC)

• I still think that they are only wearing armor, and that the pic shows them wearing helmets. The Mandalore the Ultimate pic seems to support this, as you can see a small portion of skin color peaking out from what would be the masks lip. Cull Tremayne 23:41, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Something else to support this would be the "hair" or whatever you'd call it on the helmet looks very vividly like it's fastened there by rings. • The Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide has stats for Mandalore the Indomitable which classify him as "Near-Human". Likewise, as mentioned before, the NEC calls them a "near-human, gray-skinned species". Barringer 01:22, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Evolution

It says they have grey skin and looked humanoid so what if they evolved into a new species or interbreed and did not die out, The Rattataki for instance may be a possible evolution or hybrid species of the Taung. But this is only a theory and so is non-canon. Awar 23:06, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Humans

Assuming we're talking about the bit saying 'native humans' in the beginning, it doesn't matter whether or not the Humans evolved on Coruscant because the species the Taung fought at the time were known as Zhell. IMO it's like debating the use of the term 'Homo Sapien Sapien' in an area where 'Homo Erectus' did something of note. ESB novel

• I suspect that the Mandalorians are mentioned, but I'd have to check the book to see if it's referring to the Mandalorian species (i.e. the Taung) or the Mandalorian organization/multi-species culture. —Silly Dan _(talk) 21:43, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Closest thing I could find was this quote at the end of chapter 9: "He was dressed in a weapon-covered, armored spacesuit, the kind worn by a group of evil warriors defeated by the Jedi Knights during the Clone Wars." This doesn't seem to be about the Mandalorian/Taung species, but the Mandalorian Protectors. I'll remove it from the list. —Silly Dan _(talk) 02:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Roon

I've been unable to locate a source which states that the Taung fled Coruscant and settled on Roon. The CSWE merely mentions that they eventually settled on Mandalore, and makes no mention of Roon. Likewise, the entry for Roon makes no mention of the Taung. Is there a source that they settled there? Barringer 22:18, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Doesn't that mean the supposition that they settled on Roon for thousands of years prior to settling on Mandalore is original research then? The roonstones would just suggest that they were at some point on Roon, correct? Barringer 23:30, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Removed BTS information

Removed the whole BTS section: [1] for the following reasons:

The Taung child reference (which I added years ago) is primarily guesswork, and should probably be removed unless there's some more information which shows it's not a coincidence

The Predator resemblance is subjective, and needs citation for the "frequently compared" claim

The Protoss resemblance is also subjective: I for one don't think they look similar at all.

Color

It says in the article that the taung have grey skin. How ever in the 1st picture it appears that it has green skin. Is this a error or something?174.111.248.121 23:40, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

The Essential Guide to Warfare

I was reading the Essential Guide to Warfare recently and noticed that at the point where the Taung drifted to extinction as a result of heavy losses during the Mandalorian Wars, the current canon states that the Mandalorians in question were mostly composed of other races the Taung had brought in. What I'm wondering is if this evidence is saying that the Taung did not in fact go extinct? 198.45.231.102 16:47, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

Plural (Taung vs. Taungs)

It seems there's a wild mix of both versions in the whole text. As far as I know the plural in DWV says "Taungs" which means the text should be revised then, right? AdenDarklander (talk)
