Timeline
Can we guess when the TIE Phantom existed? before or after the Battle of Hoth? I am not aware of the Vonkrx whatsisname project, but the Vonkrx occured before the Battle of Endor, therefore the Phantoms are put quite soon before it. MoffRebus 02:07, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- I always thought it was after the Battle of Endor. We'll need a source, though. Admiral J. Nebulax 12:41, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- From what I remember of the game, it was set pretty soon after the Battle of Yavin, thus before the Battle of Hoth. It was deffinately sometime before the Battle of Endor, as Darth Vader himself was involved in the project. -Jaymach Ral'Tir 12:44, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Oops. Well, then, we have it set between 0 BBY and 3 ABY. Admiral J. Nebulax 12:46, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Whatever. I didn't finish up my whole thought: when the Vornkx project occured? Is anybody aware of this? I think that it occured AFTER the Battle of Hoth, since it's mentioned in Star Wars: TIE Fighter. The Phatnoms therefore are put also after the Battle of Hoth, and further closer to the Battle of Endor than Vonkrx. MoffRebus 15:20, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Perhaps they were used before and after the Battle of Hoth. Admiral J. Nebulax 15:22, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- No, because they originated from the Vonkrx project, not before. Therefore the timeline in my head has: B-wing > Battle of Hoth > TIE Fighter proper > Vonkrx (I don't know when exactly, but I think it's in an expansion of TIE Fighter) > Phantoms > Rebel Assault 2 > Battle of Endor. MoffRebus 15:33, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Well, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Admiral J. Nebulax 15:41, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Is the TIE Phantom canon after all? I thought it wasn't. - TopAce 18:54, 11 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- Look at the sources MoffRebus 19:05, 11 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- You thought it wasn't canon? Admiral J. Nebulax 19:12, 11 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- Grand Admiral Batch came up with the idea after developing the original hibridium cloaking device. While he oversaw the Phanton TIE project, work on hibridium cloaking continued with the Vorknyx Project under Grand Admiral Zaarin and later Grand Admiral Thrawn. Batch wasn't ever involved in the Vorknyx Project. Both the Vorknyx Project (from TIE Fighter) and the Phantom TIE project (from Rebel Assault II) take place between Hoth and Endor. So I'm going to remove the reference to Vorknyx.Green tentacle 11:44, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Picture
Isn't there a better picture somewhere of the Phantom? I thought the ones from Rebel Assault II weren't CGI. 152.163.101.12 16:13, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- What's wrong with this one? It looks fine to me. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 16:15, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- I know but we have "real" pictures for other articles, why not use the real picture for the Phantom?
- And this current one isn't real? Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 22:58, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I think it's a screenshot of either a fan-made 3D model or an X-wing Alliance modification. I don't have Rebel Assault II, but I think SWTC has some screenshots. —Darth Culator (talk) 23:37, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 00:21, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- The screenshot is from RA II. TIE Phantom doesn't appear anywhere else. And all (as well as everything in the game other than the actors) are CGI. There are no real models. MoffRebus 10:46, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Too bad. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 10:59, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Designation
Where did "TIE/st" come from? I assume it's short for "stealth" or maybe "stygium," but I'm not aware of it being used in any canon source. Darth Culator 21:07, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- I thought it was "stealth". I also thought it was in the game. Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 22:12, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps it's from Insider 66. Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 22:13, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Not sure, though on the subject, it's also known as the "V38 assault starfighter" in Rebel Assault II, but we have no info in this article - Kwenn 11:47, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Should TIE V-38 Sentinel redirect to here? Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:24, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know much about the V38 designation. Doesn't sound very TIE-like, and maybe it's been superceded by "TIE/st" - Kwenn 19:31, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- It sounds a little fishy to me. However, you could always ask the person who put the article up. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 19:34, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Aha, apparently the TIE/st is a modified version of the V38 assault fighter - Kwenn 12:22, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- So is TIE/st is canon? What source is this from? JimRaynor55 15:56, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- I assume it comes from Insider 66 - Kwenn 15:58, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- We shouldn't assume anything though. I asked the guy who first put in "TIE/st," though I'm not sure when I'll get an answer. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just some newbie posting fanon from some fan site. JimRaynor55 16:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't, and as hard as I try I can't find any canon source for it. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:03, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Should we revert the article back to it's previous name, then? I think everything should be assumed to be fanon until proven otherwise. JimRaynor55 16:34, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Back to TIE Phantom? And should we create a separate article for the unmodified V38 assault fighter? - Kwenn 16:57, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think we should revert. As for the V38, we should make a stub article saying that the Phantom was based on it, since it is a distinct starfighter. JimRaynor55 17:09, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- That should probably be done. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 21:54, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- I made a separate stub for the V38. Can anybody give me a source for "V38 assault fighter"? I used that designation because that was what the TIE Phantom article linked to. I want to know for sure before moving the page, which is still named TIE/st. JimRaynor55 23:19, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oops, I already moved it. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 23:21, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- CUSWE gives the source as Rebel Assault II itself, but also states V38 is the TIE Phantom; its entries for Phantom TIE and V-38 Phantom direct the user to "V38". Can someone find whatever info was given in Insider on the ship? - Kwenn 20:14, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) 20px 20:16, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Star Wars Insider 66 has very little to say about the TIEs themselves: "With thousands of free-floating crystals at his disposal, Batch easily recreated the classic stygian screen and requisitioned the Super Star Destroyer Terror (under the command of Admiral Sarn) to protect his investment. Batch's invisible phantom TIE fighters seemed promising, but Rebel saboteurs destroyed everything, including the Terror." jSarek 04:05, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Canon issue?
If this ship was in production during the Civil War, how come Captain Lorth Needa commented after the Millenium Falcon disappeared from their sensors, "They can't have disappeared. No ship that small has a cloaking device…" when the Phantom is obviously smaller than the Millenium Falcon. (Sirius Shadowflame 19:06, 30 October 2006 (UTC))
- Top secret military information is dealt out to even the highest-level officers on a need-to-know basis, and Needa didn't have a need to know. jSarek 20:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
