Army or separate unit?

Hi. I know that in Legends they are a distinct unit from the Imperial Navy and Imperial Army, but is the Disney Canon still an Army unit, or has it been made a separate unit? I know that in Rebels, they were an elite Army unit, but on the other hand, Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide makes it sound as though the Stormtrooper Corps are their own distinct unit from the Army and Navy branches like in Legends. • The Stormtrooper Corps is part of the Imperial Army. I think of it similarly to how the U.S. Marine Corps is organized. It's a separate military branch but it falls under the U.S. Navy for example. Similarly, the Stormtrooper Corps is under the Imperial Army, but acts like a separate branch, and even has its own command group, the Stormtrooper Command.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 21:11, June 18, 2018 (UTC)
    • Okay, just wanted to be sure (mostly because the way the Camp Forward section of the book was talking, they made it seem as though the Imperial Army, Imperial Navy, and Stormtrooper Corps were actual separate units from each other, which led to some confusion). Phase 2 Dark Troopers

Though no canon source has outright stated the Phase 2 Dark Troopers are droids, no source has said they are a type of stormtrooper either-all that is known is that they're experimental units. Is there really a reason to put them in the Corps? Fan26 (Talk) 20:59, March 2, 2019 (UTC)

  • Probably not no --Lewisr (talk) 21:03, March 2, 2019 (UTC)

Number of troopers

Hi all. The article currently reads:

In the Stormtrooper Corps, one of the smallest units was a squad, which consisted of ten stormtroopers. A platoon was made up of five squads, and a company was made up of four platoons. Higher up, a battalion consisted of four companies, and a regiment had four battalions in it. A legion was made up of four regiments, giving one a total of one million stormtroopers.

The way this is written implies a legion consists of one million troops, which is far from the truth both in lore and logic. According to the text (and the referenced graph in the sourcebook) there should be a total of 12,800 troops in a legion. The graph also never mentions 1 million stormtroopers.

Is this number from another source or does it not exist anywhere? If it does exist, should the text be changed to mean that the total amount of stormtroopers in the corps is 1 million (as that's what true, logically)? If it doesn't, it should be removed.Unsigned comment by 85.75.47.88 (talk • contribs)

  • Good catch! By going through the revisions, I was able to find out the exact moment edit that changed that, so I reverted the information to it's original state. Thanks. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 09:15, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
